1996 Camaro Convertible 3.8L Good combo?

We have a customer with a mint 96 Camaro Convertible for sale. Curious if it would be a decent combo or if it should just stay a street car. I think it fit's O or P Auto and would have to weigh 3460lbs I think.

If it's a 3800, it's "pretty good" Steve.

Steve The Liberal, I was involved in one of them last year.
It's beat up pretty good.
Lean on it hard, in good air, it's 1.00-1.05 under combo.
Better in SS. You need the roll bar anyway. Doubt you could get it light enough though.
Stick shift? Much better. Low 12 second car.

Mark The Republican. That's good to know. I'm not looking for a killer combo, More something that won't break the bank and get me 1/2 second under in D3 in the summer.

Steve, I think that you'll find that this combo has already been the beneficiary of some very "liberal" HP and technical help from the NHRA.
In other words, it's gotten plenty of welfare assistance already!

Being a non-political website, probably...

Steve the Liberal, my son had a '96 3800 Firebird, auto, T-tops etc. With a posi, a gear, Stocker slicks and a tune (injectors etc) he had it running 12.50 without taking a valve cover off! Jim

Jim I would like to see that tune! We have been messing with one a little bit here. No injectors yet, but some tuning and shorty headers into a open 3" y pipe with about 18" collector, 4.10's and 26" slicks mustered 14.70's 94mph in the heat. I think it could use a converter desperately as it flashes just above idle.

I'm Wondering if it could be built for 10 grand or less.

I have to amend my last. My son now tells me he put headers, roller rockers and a 3800 to 4000 stall YANK convertor also.Sorry about giving you incomplete info. The car was a street killer! Oh and the gear was a 4.56. 10 bolt rear. Tune was done by a guy who usd to work at Titan. Jim

That Yank is also very Streetable !
Hardly notice it is a high stall converter..with the new stator Design.
The Lock-up with the OD makes cruising with 4.56’s easy.

Steve, that was my plan in 2000. I have many parts including a Moser 12 bolt complete, an engine with machine work done, two new Bullit cams, s and w torque arm and many misc parts.
I'll make you a super deal. call me 504 606-5072 Greg

On the other hand Ronnie Tomento down here has a very nice and fast one ready to go for 25K
