50th Anniversary COPO Shootout

I had a long conversation with Steve Wolcott yesterday. The NMCA is very excited about this event and really wants to have a large number of COPOs in attendance. This will be a once in a lifetime event. I strongly encourage all my COPO friends to participate.

Here is the link.

A few reasons I know it will be COOL...

1. The NMCA is hosting the Shootout - I can't say how impressed I am with these guys and gals. They are always friendly and go above and beyond to serve up a great weekend.

2. NMCA track prep - I have yet to be disappointed! If you want a good place to test before Indy, you will not find a better track surface.

3. Prime pit spaces for COPO owners - All the COPO's will get the "PRO treatment".

4. National exposure in a relaxed environment.

5. Luncheons, raffles, and HAPPY HOUR!!

6. It's at Norwalk - ICE CREAM!!!

Anyway, this looks like it will be a fun event. Hopefully, I will see a bunch of you there!

Good Luck!

Daren

Thank you Daren and Bob for the very kind words. The 50th Anniversary COPO Camaro Shootout is taking off like we thought it would. We are hoping to have 75+ COPOs competing in the class.

Made my reservations last night. We attended the CJ reunion last year and will be back for the COPO reunion this year!

I'm planning on attending but have to sort out some scheduling things for the end of summer, is there a deadline to sign up by?

Re: 50th Anniversary COPO Shootout

The deadline is August 10, 2019, so there's LOTS of time. The reason we need to pre-register is for 1) pre-reserved pit parking and 2) special meals / happy hours for ordering food. Thanks!

If you have an restored early COPO you are also welcome to attend. So far, there are a few signed up. It would be great if we could get at least one of each early COPO on display.

As of today, there are 56 modern COPO cars signed up!!

The Shootout is open to older COPOs too. The NMCA just announced that these two will run the race. COOL!

So I bit the bullet yesterday as i had to decide whether I'm going to Indy or to the 50th Anniversary COPO deal and the Camaro event won out .Sure wish I could do both but it probably won't happen.Next I have to figure out if I'm taking a hardtop or a ragtop ........decisions - decisions .To be in the same place with more than 50 other COPO's should be exciting ! ! ! See you guys and gals there .

All that and I was glad to see that my engine builder ( Ray Barton Engines ) put up an extra couple of G's in prize money .Thanks David ! ! !
