Big Money AND a Wally

I know it's early but with too many people whining, I had to share some Great news for Stock/SS, Nostalgia/SS and NMCA type Index Racers.

Dateline: Eau Claire, Wis - June 14-17

Friday: A stick only S/SS race and testing. Check out the thread in Midwest Class Racer.

Saturday: $4k Stock/SS combo, NSS and Index Race PLUS a Wally in all 3 classes ( Saturday Only) Plus a FREE Bar-B-Q (not cheap weiners but real pulled pork). Help them celebrate their 50th Anniversary! Greenheck will have New concrete guard rails and Rock Falls Raceway was repaved just 3 years ago. It's Interstate highway all the way. There were 100 cars in the Combo last year! Don't like playing second fiddle to the Pros? You'll be the stars - No brackets that weekend. Think the payout is top heavy? NO Sir! Last year, it essentially halved all the way back to First Round Winners which paid $100. All this for a $150 per day entry fee. I'll edit this later when the Friday fees, NSS and Index Entry/Payout are posted.

Sunday: Repeat with another $4k combo, NSS and Index Race with separate entry fees.

I'll be tuning up my NSS Dart while the Keyboard guys come up with excuses not to support this Midwest Class Racer/C-tech Extravaganza!!

How/why a Wally at a non nhra event?

Al I didn't realize you were a CT. guy. A close friend of mine Papa Frank Tantilo told me. Great that you are letting us know about this race. It's races like this and the Memorial one for Dave Lebrun and Alan Peters that will help with keeping our sport going. Thanks for those that are involved. Barry

Kevin,
Tracks have the option to buy a certain amount of Wally’s per year for “ND Days” or King of the Tracks. So you can gove away Wally’s at any event of the track will get them for you at the cost. I know Atco got a couple a few years back for me.

You can!
BUT, why not become a member? This group is doing more for S/SS racing than any other! You can put that in the bank!

Mike, we'd love to see you back again this year. I didn't get the chance to say "Thanks!" to you guys in person last year.

MCR membership is not required at any of the MCR events. :)

For anyone who hasn't been to this race at Rock Falls , this is what classracers dream of !!!! Big money , round money way back, free food {Sat night }, all class cars and one of the cleanest and groomed tracks you will ever see. Picture 100+ stock /superstock cars,NSS pitted at one race, devoted just to them . Come and race and you will not be disappointed !!!! Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen.

Is this a class race with heads-ups or a bracket race with class cars.?

4spdJohnny 03-15-2019 09:19 PM

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

All Midwest Class Racers races have heads up. No fuel check but winners are weighed. Over 10 races on the schedule this year all over the upper midwest. These races are super fun. It's what class racing is all about! Bang for your buck you can not find a better deal. The race at Rock Falls is quickly becoming a premier event. The addition of the Stick Challenge race presented by Midwest Factory Finishes is just another exciting addition to an already great race! Hope to see ya all there!

Jeff, as John stated earlier, Midwest Class Racer events are heads up and the cars are weighed.

At last years event at Rock Falls, there were two heads up pairings in the first round. :) -Al

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

I'm sure the race will be fun, and I'm sure the folks working to organize it are working very hard to ensure everyone who attends will have a grand time.

But I'm still struggling with the concept that an official NHRA Wally could be granted for anything other than a certified NHRA Class or event win, at an official NHRA National or divisional event.

A Wally is intended to be almost sacred.

JRyan 03-17-2019 09:18 AM

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

NHRA has been allowing the tracks to do Wally weekends for bracket racing for quite a long time now. It’s a nice program to give the local racers a chance to win a trophy that otherwise most would never have the opportunity too.
This sounds like a great race which is no surprise as they always are when Midwest Class Racers are involved. With any luck maybe we’ll be able to attend this year.

Hello Al We were wondering what the NMCA index classes would be ? Do you have any information on them ? May have some interest in them. thanks Bob

Albert Lee 03-24-2019 10:02 PM

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

Here's the Index deal in a nutshell:

1/4 second indexes from 8.5 to 13.0
5 tenths pro tree, handicap start.

I've done it and it's a lot of fun.

Al Corda

btrc 03-25-2019 10:45 AM

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

Do you pick the index and then you run off that, no dial in? For example all the 10.50 cars would run off of 10.50

Albert Lee 03-25-2019 04:37 PM

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

Yes, you pick an index before the last qualifier and it doesn't change after that. In eliminations, all cars race together so there is usually a handicap start on the 5 tenths pro tree.

As I mentioned, it's a lot of fun!! I think I'll double enter and try my luck.

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

We had two of our local racers from Mitchell double entry last year and went to late rounds in both classes. They said it was a blast and are doing it again this year. They really enjoyed the pro tree. This is going to be a great weekend with a Stick Shift race and test and tune on Friday and 4000 dallors both Saturday and Sunday what's not to LIKE. Don't miss this great event plus don't forget about the Wally

Blang 03-27-2019 09:21 AM

Re: Big Money AND a Wally

Keep in mind there is also a NSS race both days-NMCA index's and rules 1/4 second index, full tree.

We attended this event last year and had a great time.. lots of trees good track lots of great people.. One thing nice about this event we are the show not a lot of other classes to slow down the program, also the money , just look at the payout, why would you not go. Also don't forget the stick challenge on Friday I don't have a stick but am also help sponsor that race..
I hope to old friends and make some new ones this year.

With the Badger Summer Classic S/SS race coming together I would like to take a minute and THANK the main people who make this race possible.

Jim Greenheck - C-TECH - Rock Falls Raceway Thanks for being open minded to let MCR race at your first class race track. MCR will continue to work hard to provide one of the Best independent S/SS races in the nation with the help of your great staff at RFR.

Charley Adbouch - Midwest Factory Finishes Thanks for looking out for the little guys in our sport. It was Charley that wanted and sponsored the MCR Stick Challenge a great new idea to help bring this race over the top. Charley also pays for the Cookout sat night!

Scott Dugdale and MCR North for hosting this event (it takes a lot of time and effort to make this all come together)

John McLeod - Thank You for being the spokesman of MCR and bringing everybody together to make this race happen!

Just a reminder last chance to get on the sponsor list for the MCR Stick race Teeshirts. We have over 20 so far and if we could get a few more we will pay down one more round. Everyone who enters this race will receive a free shirt thanks to Dan Wiese and Matt Steen. Thanks guys.

Also just heard Charlie our main sponsor for the Stick race and Saturday night barbecue will be there. Should be a great weekend.
