Top secret tricks to .90 racing
Hello All.
00X on the tree, and 10.90X always seems to be the best trick. But how do you get there, what does it take? Are there any special Top Secret Tricks that you use? It seems there are a lot of Guys/Gals out there that are in the late rounds on a regular basis. Are they just lucky, or more knowledgeable or do they "CHEAT" (LOL) I would say seat time is your best friend, but there is more to it then that. You still need to know what and what not to do in the seat. TS ratio can be a big mystery. As the weather is constantly changing. Cruse RPM. to high is not good, to low is not good. But what is Right? How long on the stop can effect every run. 60 ft is O so critical. Shift on the stop, or after it goes off? Closing rate, or being caught, when to take the stripe, when to give it up? When to dump, wack the throttle, lift or touch the brakes. These are all top secret things that we all need to learn. What's best big MPH, or middle of the pack, or even better super low MPH. What's in the box, will tell you how your car react to the tree. Is the tree tight or loose? And the list goes on and on. I personally like to chase, with a little in the bag. But that can be bad if you miss the tree, or the 60 is a little off either way. (which my car is plagued to do) But hey what do I know, I'm still a 1st rd duck looking for a win. So Guys/Gals, What is the secrets that you don't want anybody to know. OOO I have a good one stay away from Keith!!! LOL Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you All !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cal SST/SG 1177 Just a thought from a 1st rd Duck just looking for a win !!!! |
Re: Top secret tricks to .90 racing
Simple, install an easy button! Works for me
And btw you have a win. At least the Virginia one and a #2 finish in the division so you can’t be considered a duck. |
Re: Top secret tricks to .90 racing

I agree with Robbie, install both the radio & the easy button.
Make sure the radio is on some good old "ROCK & ROLL" Play it Loud & Proud in the Winner Circle too. Still a 1st rd Duck looking for a WIN. Cal SST 1177 |

Re: Top secret tricks to .90 racing
You see a similar tactic to the Biondos, Bogacki, Lamb, Richardsons, they one thing that they all do is change up their game. You have no possible clue what they could be doing. Being comfortable with holding 8, then next round putting it right on the .90 is the biggest "cheat code" in my opinion. Giving yourself options.

Re: Top secret tricks to .90 racing
Pay attention to EVERYTHING!
I go through the Live Timing and build a database of Super Street and Super Comp runs for any race in my division or surrounding divisions. Once I am on the ladder, pull up my opponent and try to figure out how they set up. What is their 60' compared to mine? Can I use that to tell who got the tree? Also, the year I won the division I had the advantage on the tree every double-green round except one single round in my counted events. I haven't been able to replicate it since so I can't tell you how it is done, but it is helpful! |

Re: Top secret tricks to .90 racing
I learned a lot from Jim Harrington that guy would sit out time runs because it would cut into his fun time
I learned a lot from that guy, he is truly missed |

I didn't keep up with the run logging this past year, and it probably isn't a coincidence that I didn't have as strong a season. It was decent. I spend all day working in Excel, so I can make it look like work while I do it. A lot of manual fixing and deleting stuff though. I wish NHRA would allow some way to access the data directly, but I wouldn't hold my breath! I don't even know that having that exact information is the most helpful thing, but it represents an attitude of being as prepared as humanly possible, and I let that attitude slide. |
Re: Top secret tricks to .90 racing
Just plug the info into the computer, put the numbers in the box and go along for the ride. Easy.
At least, that's what the guys who don't do it tell me. |
