Needs to be torn down. This should be automatic when any car causes a combo to be hit.

If no teardown, at least pump up a couple of random cylinders.

Normal head off tear downs when someone causes HP to be put on some ones combo. P&G is a waste of time !

Is this in Kansas? I thought when they adjust for altitude there was a different rule regarding factoring?

They changed that a few years back.

4.25% on tuesday.

4.25%, otherwise known as 16 HP. This deal has now gotten 28, repeat TWENTY EIGHT HP, on time runs at divisional events. That, my friends, is truly a brilliant use of an asset...

I'm 99% sure that is a stick combo.Your's wont get hit if I'm correct Dan...

He crushed the 396 combo now working on the 350.

All the guys that don't like the FS cars should be pretty happy. No soft combos left for the COPO cars.

Sticks and Automatics are combined in the FS / FSS / and FGT classes. (Or at least I thought)

Sticks and autos run some class in FS. They are NOT factored the same! I’m pretty sure he used to run stick, but he has auto now. Patterson also went close to -1.25 as well and he is auto. This will be 4.25% hit which will be 17 hp.

They do run heads up but are factored alone...

It's kinda sad that Drag Racing in Stock and SS has become "protecting a combo" rally !

Yeah, may be kinda sad, but it was really sad when it was flat out, and about 25 cars showed up to race.

That's what I thought at the end of last year. He had made a handful of runs in E that were going to single handily get it 5 in the review and I didn't bother to go save it. I was wrong.

As long as the HP factor is out of whack for these combinations the AHFS as currently configured has no chance of correcting this.

So he wanted to see how fast he really was. The only one that knows is Tyler, as soft as it was doubt it will hurt it much. Flame away.

Brilliant assessment. If you're bored tonight, I'm sure you'll have no problems passing, good luck and enjoy...

Re: Excellent job !! Horsepower coming soon

I am not much for pounding a combo when it can be avoided, especially because of a killer air scenario etc. However, some of these combos are so soft, most racers spend more effort slowing them down than racing them. I think they will be ok with some HP. I do agree that NHRA should require a tear down. If the person that triggers refuses, or pulls weight on the way to the scale ( which has been done in D3) they should get a time out.

Frank Castros 09-30-2018 09:26 AM

Re: Excellent job !! Horsepower coming soon

The way I see it is if you're capable of going 1.20 or better and have spent the time and money to do so then a factor adjustment is not going to hurt you but maybe someone else. The racer in question has set the benchmark for that combination. Other than Indy, a National Open or heads up how often do you run it out the back door anyway? Then on Sunday it's pretty match a bracket race.

Question, does qualifying at Indy and opens count against the year end average?

If Tyler Cassil car is stick combo, 358 + 16 Hp.= 374, auto. Is 377.

Might as well start allowing electronic throttle stops like S/C and S/G in stock and S/S. They are allowed just about everything else in the engine and trans these days !

Tyler is auto and Patterson is auto. Patterson went -1.249 too. 377+17=394

I know you meant 17 not 14, and you've referenced 17 twice now. 4.25% of 377 is 16.0225. Are you trying to tell me that's rounded up to 17? Asking for a friend...

Re: Excellent job !! Horsepower coming soon

Seems like the same crowd that doesn’t race anymore doesn’t understand when a big HP hit occurs on a combo it affects other racers. And these slower car owners who were behind before but now they are way behind
Are the same crowd thinks it’s ok to have no instant HP at INDY.
Makes no sense. 120 hit is anywhere should get hit .except Open Races
Dan sorry for your loss. I understand friend lol

James,
C/SA at Indy is a perfect example of how out of whack it is and I, like you want to see a more competitive field of cars. When I raced (1978-1991) it was tighter and if you were behind you worked harder and spent a little bit more. Of course the rules where much stricter and fewer cars with fuel injection.
I don't know what the perfect formula is but does anyone?
