Hercules 225/75r15 12 Ply

1 Attachment(s)
Been running Maxxis 8008 10 ply load range E. Would like a little more tire but cannot go to 16" due to spread axle and fenderettes on my ATC trailer.
Hercules has a 12ply load range F in the 225/75r15.

Has anyone run this tire? It is fairly new so not many reviews.

Hercules Tire has been making products in Findley, Ohio as part of the Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for many years, so they are are (or should be) a reputable brand. They have a large dealer network, so maybe that would be a good place to ask about their warranty/replacement policy.

The Hercules specs show that size as 10 ply, not 12 ply and with the same load rating as Maxxis in that size. I’ve had good luck with Maxxis and since I’m restricted by size think I’ll stick with what’s worked for me. Goodyear? Not so much...

I got one of those tires as a spair . It's a heavy duty tire & you need a 6 wide rim .

We installed the Hercules 235/85 r16 on our trailer Which was same size as the trailer manufacturer recommendation . Got a good deal, but found that the side walls had more of a buldge and had to beat the crap out of the inner fender to keep from rubbing.

Has anyone ever used a heavy ply truck tire in place of the trailer tires ?
Tire dealer said the speed rating is about 65 mph on trailer tire and were
running right on edge that could make to much heat on tire.

Never heard of a max 65mph on trailer tires. We run about 10 under the speed limit in Colorado and Utah; except for one tire blow out coming down Vail pass (that wasn't the tires fault) just sucky Colorado roads; we havent had any other problems with trailer tires.
I have had more sway with truck/passenger tires when towing.

Federal industry wide ratings any tire with a ST rating is rated for a maximum speed rating of 65 MPH at the proper inflation.

Not all are rated at 65mph. Some of the ST tires are speed rated "L" at 75MPH. The Hercules H-901 225/75/15 is Load Range F and Speed Rated L (75MPH)

Giving this a little bump as I will be swapping out my 2 year old Westlakes around Feb 19. Anyone else running these yet?

I recently switched to 10 ply truck tires after having blow outs with 10 ply trailer tires.

The trailer pulls so much better now. :)
I had to go to 16 inch wheels to use the LT225-75-16 Truck tires.

LT truck tires are the way to go, IMO.

Anyways, my trailer uses 5 lug 4 1/2" bolt pattern.
I was amazed to only find one wheel company that made a 16 inch- 5 lug 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern wheel in steel.

Where did you find the 16 inch wheels with the 5x4.5 bolt pattern?

I have been running these all year. Only have around 5-6K on them but so far so good. They really track better than any other trailer tire I have used.
I run around 90PSI in them, They are on a 28FT ATC with 3500lb car, golf cart, tools etc weighing in around 9800.
