V10 viper / 727 combo help

Looking for suggestions on who could help out on getting parts to put a 727 behind a viper v10
Contacted ati with no luck they only make a adapter plate to bolt a gm trans on it
Car will be in gt so I can’t run a glide or 400
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Contact Kevin Helms, he’s built one or two of them.

I think first V10's were glide cars. Dave at Pro Trans

Re: V10 viper / 727 combo help

Found a 727 that will work that came in the trucks for a couple years before they went to the 518 that all my good parts will work in
On the classracerinfo site it only gives hp rating with a stick at 450 hp no auto listed for the 97 488 v10
So Would it be rated the same with auto ?

I do not recall any year Viper ever coming with Auto = Therefore NOT legal
for stock class if that what you were planning.

I'm intrigued. What FWD conversion chassis, with the lack of firewall relief for any Mopar RWD conversions, does a V10 fit in? Bellhousing adapter wise I though the V10 was the same bolt pattern as a small block but a little research it appears same as the Cummins instead.

Depends what year motor you are looking at. The 488 bolt pattern will fit a 727 Early Diesel T/Flite I have two cases for that combo. Also depends how you plan on starting it. The later DP with the 513 motor has an an adapter for a GM Glide or T350 and both have different starting methods. Calll me @ 985-804-6161. I have a Viper with a t/f here that is for sale, and I had another. And can probably help you. Jeff Teuton or email jefft@southlanddodge.com

According to the 2018 NHRA Rulebook in the SS/GT Section 12B page 12 under ENGINE: The first sentence reads...

" V8 only; must be same make as body."

That means a V10 is not currently allowed to run in SS/GT. This is not a new rule as people wanting to run a V6 in SS/GT in the past have been told they cannot.

Travis, While you're here, when did the GT rule change from where your transmission had to match your engine in availability?

Engine/transmission rule is still the same.

Oh, okay. So if the guide doesn't say A (automatic) only, you can run a manual trans.?
No question?

Not always true. Over the years there have been cases where it has been brought to light that a certain combination was manual only or automatic only. If there is a question whether an engine/body did not use both manual and automatic transmissions, that needs to be presented to the NHRA Tech Dept in writing so the combination can be researched.

Interesting.
So, now I'm curious.
The 91-96 Caprice is okay with a stick with one V8, but not the other?
Maybe the Venezuelan taxi and police option?
I wonder what trans? T-5 @ 4200 lbs.?
Also wonder if anyone can find the GM part numbers for the clutch pedal and other assorted linkage parts?

Maybe I should repeat my previous post.

No need, Travis.
I just didn't know it was our job.
If you would, tell me who to contact so I can get on the payroll.
