Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
Anyone have an old 327 crank laying around for a large journal block ? I don't care if it's a stock one, an Eagle, a Scat , an Ohio Crank....I don't care. Just something that will work. You can call or text me at (434) 665-9541. Thanks

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
Sounds good. I appreciate it. Oh...btw..a mule motor...to me its just a test engine or something to get some seat time with and maybe run some gear jammer races with. Nothing special.

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
Hmmmm, Looked in garage. I've got 2 small journal forged 327's and a forged 283. I do have some more cranks over at my warehouse. I'll try to get over there soon and let you know.

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
Last four numbers cast into the crank are 1001.Seems to be the only number for the cast crank,307 or 327.

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
Terry, I think all 283 and small journal 327 cranks are forged.

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
I have a complete 68 327 I can yank the crank out of

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
Some late (65-67) 283s were built with cast cranks, but you are right about the small journal 327s.

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
More decades ago than I like to think,I bought a 283 core, took it home, dismantled it, and it had a cast crank. The balancer was"t really a balancer, it was a one piece cast hub. it also had a bronze pilot bushing in the rear of the crank. I still have the hub-I use it with my degree wheel when plying with camshafts. I used the block in my 66 Chevy I had at the time, all that stuff is long sold off. I do remember the 283 cast crank, though.

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
I don't know much about this, but why not use a small journal forged crank with the spacer main bearings? And small journal rods?
|
Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
I know at least SOME 68-69 327 cranks were forged, maybe all but i'm not sure
I also know 265/283 cranks were forged, except the later (67 fur sure) were cast... |
Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
I know what you mean Ed, but I can't locate a spacer for a small journal crank in a large journal block, other than using a couple sets of main brgs and a lil creative work....lol. Basically, I'm just being lazy...lol

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
J.C., I have them in mine. 350" sized main bores, 283" crank journals. Front 4 are thick bearings, rear main has spacers behind it. Want me to go find the part number?

Re: Large Journal 327 Crank for Mule Motor
