Goodyear 1909

As everyone knows, Goodyear has not had a production run in quite some time. I had spoken with a few people and they are trying to determine how many they should make. So far, I have been told at least 10 sets would be gobbled up as soon as they are available.

So, Now is the time to speak up if you would want to run this tire again. I cant say if they will have to run through us or not because I don't know that part yet.

Shoot me an email at tonyd302@yahoo if you have interest and I will forward it to the people I am working with to get a production run started.

As I understand it, there was a meeting at Indy about a production run. There were no specifics on how many as of yet.

Well Tony,
It appears Goodyear will not support Stock Eliminator with the tires we need ?? What do you think is the next best tire for the Class ??

Just an update.

I have not heard anything lately. Hopefully there is something going here after this weekend from SEMA.

1/11/2016 I finally got conformation of the tire going into production. The only problem is I did not get a build date as of yet. You would think when roughly 100 sets of these tires are wanted, they would get moving on it.

I also heard the 29x9 is not going to be built currently.

Re: Goodyear 1909

Ok gang, Sorry for late details. As everyone knows, I have had plenty going on with Dad's passing.

$260 each will be the cost for the tires. As of now, a July 1st date is what is set for delivery to me in Michigan City, Ind.

The production run is supposed to be 50 sets to start with, and totaling 150 sets as of right now. I am sure that is subject to change. When I know the first set is produced, and ready to be delivered, I will start to collect on the original orders, and any others. I thank the gang at Goodyear for doing this for me, and all of you stick racers.

As of tonight, 6-14, I have an email that the tires are in production. They are trying to keep with the original promise date of July 1st.

I will keep everyone posted when I know more.

Hopefully the word is getting out after the Div 3 race at Joliet. I spoke with many that had no idea this was happening.

This tire has been in production for 25 years. First pair I had was the spring Memphis race in 1991 when we ran the car in C/SA.

I will keep watching this thread, I ran the 9X29 Goodyears on my stickshift pure stocker, second set I needed they had discontinued it,but had a replacement it worked as well or better, then when I needed the third set, that tire was discontinued, with no replacement or plans to replace it.
How does 1909 compare to M/T 3056ST 9X29.5 section width and diameter/circumference? have to be same or slightly smaller to get them on my car.

Re: Goodyear 1909

Update!!!!!!!!! The tires have been built and are ready for consumption. Sounds like they built somewhere between 80-100 for me.

I know many are spoken for, and I will email accordingly to those who have put orders in. I should be taking delivery of them at the Joliet Nationals it sounds like.

More details when they are available.

I will have at LEAST 15 sets here at Route 66 for the Nationals.

Re: Goodyear 1909

As of July7th, there is the reality of these tires being built. I have them in hand.

The pricing was changed to $288 per tire sometime in the last 2 weeks. Something I was not thrilled about. There could have been sufficient warning.

As of now, I am sending out 26 sets, and 4 sets were installed at Route 66.

So as of this moment, roughly half of them are gone.

Re: Goodyear 1909

The tires are D5 compound, 30 x 9 bias ply slick with a 95" rollout on all the ones that I handled. For those that don't know, this tire is for stick shift applications. The tires have been in and OUT of production for years. The last supply of them dried up in 2009/2010. When I was looking for a set in 2010, I waited six months for Goodyear to do something and then gave up and got M/T tires instead.

Re: Goodyear 1909

Update time. I know some are out there in use already, and have been for over a month. I suspect there area about a total of 10 sets still left that are unaccounted for.

If you are going to race at Brainerd, or Indy and want to get a set, let me know so I can plan for you accordingly.
