Weather station

Looking to purchase a weather station to help with my 9.90 set up. I am looking at the Altronics PerformAIRE Weather Stations PA2. Any one use it – Good or bad.?

I understand it is hard to get them to pay contingency, all kinds of hoops to jump thru then still don't pay, till you bug them about it.
I think I'd try something with better customer relations.

I just bought an Altacom II....and am having problems with the software not working properly on my Dell laptop. I am still waitng for an answer to the problem from Altalab. The weather station works fine and is communicating normally with my laptop.....but their software will not function as it should.

Walk thru the pits , Altalab stations outnumber all others .
Rich , are you using Windows 8 ? I had some issues with serial to USB connections , but they helped me work thru them .
Works great on Windows XP ,vista and 7.
Personally , I hate Windows 8 , I'm about 40 years to old for its target market !

I have Windows 7 on my laptop Tom.....I have 8 on my work computer and hate it with a passion....It's hard to believe they thought that O.S. was a good idea after 10-15 years of the other various O.S.'s

I also have 7 on my desktop at home. I loaded the Altalab disc on it and it works normally......It refuses to work on my Dell laptop and I did buy the serial to USB adapter thinking that was the issue....It was/is not.

I also bought Crew Chief Pro....and it works normally. Since I have that it is no big deal that the Altalab live weather screen does not work but I want to get it working anyway......I called them 2-3 weeks ago and was told to be patient....they have someone working on it...???

Looking forward to racing soon and hope all this stuff helps....if not there's always my bike and beer.....and I can watch.....LOL

Jeff ,occasionally you will have one station stepping on another, its usually not a problem at Divisional races but with all the radio traffic at National events , I have seen issues with signals reaching the staging lanes. Maple Grove in particular can be difficult because of the pit layout.

Re: Weather station

The only reason any weather station will "step over" another is if the transmitter has been modified and now "bleeds over" to other frequencies. They think it helps the range but it really does the opposite.

The only place I see this is in Division 7 where some Top Alcohol team ( yet to be determined ) which causes problems for racers at Vegas and a few other places.

There are a million frequencies and many millions of cap codes for the pagers so there should be zero problems.

One other item is to make sure your paging weather stations do not have the antenna wire coiled up, that causes problems for some.

And literally no one in the world other than drag racers using pagers since about the mid-1990s, so...

Weird, just this week at the hospital the doctors and nurses all had one, every restaurant I went to they gave us those disks that vibrate ( which are just pagers by the way ), and "Blart" the mall security guard had one.

They didn't get the message apparently....

That explains why at the last 3 Vegas races the pager sometimes would not read correctly once in a while. Interesting!

Edds is literally the only person I could find who still tracks pager use. The market research firms I talked to stopped studying pagers so long ago, they no longer even keep records of the data. But Edds says even though pagers are still widely used, 70 percent of hospitals report using or experimenting with smartphones.
And a mall cop parody -- where the whole point was to show how ridiculous it was -- great recommendation.
