Rewiring a stocker
Who has the best hardware to rewire a car? Stocker needs to be upgraded. Thanks.

Re: Rewiring a stocker
Andy , check out the K&R switch panel and wireing kit .
Best bang for the buck , very complete and bullet proof . Has very high grade wire with twisted Pairs for ignition input and coil. . It has an integrated relay ,fuse and termination panel . Even has heat shrink tube and big quality terminals. |
Re: Rewiring a stocker
I went with a company called EZ Wiring when I redid my 85 Mustang. Nice kit and pretty easy to install. It is GM based like the majority of them but putting it into my FORD wasn't a big deal overall. I paid around $175 for the kit. 18 circuit kit I believe.

X3 for K&R. Just finishing installing their complete kit in my car now. It's very nice set up, very complete. Tony

Re: Rewiring a stocker
For a nice GM style wiring connector selection, Caspers Electronics makes a nice useful assortment of Weatherpack terminals and hardshells. Get a good crimper and you are in business.

Re: Rewiring a stocker
The K&R kit is great, you will have lots of wire, terminals and heat shrink left over for spares to keep in the trailer. The circuits are individually fused, and each circuit has an LED to indicate fuse condition. All of the wiring is already labeled throughout entire wire length.

Re: Rewiring a stocker
Spaghetti Menders Wiring Systems. They make really nice kits with good quality components.

x2 on Spaghetti Menders. Top quality parts plus outstanding technical support from the owner to help with installation questions.

Re: Rewiring a stocker
Do any of these kits have provisions for lights and panel lighting dimming?

Re: Rewiring a stocker
Spaghetti Menders has several options for wiring/switching panel and exterior lighting however I don't believe they offer a dimming feature for panel lights. Call Bob Lapp, he can offer a much better explanation than I. (815) 963-1005

Re: Rewiring a stocker
Auto rod controls makes a nice setup with a remote relay panel. Or MSD smart wire

Re: Rewiring a stocker
In the process of installing a K and R super duty wiring kit. this is a great kit that is easy to install and has a 3x3 diagram that anyone can read. K and R have great support from Kevin if having problems.

K&R in my Super Stocker-fired right up, 2 seasons with no problems.

Re: Rewiring a stocker
Andy, if you're just looking for wire, terminals and connectors, and all of the related parts, pieces and hardware to put your own system together, check out Waytek at waytekwire.com.
It's frustrating trying to do electrical work with what's available at the local auto parts. I have dealt with these people for a long time. |

The Moroso Electronic Switch Panel (ESP) is pretty cool. It has a panel mount or roll bar mount switch board that connects to a main controller. The switches have lights on them that can be dimmed.
It is really powerful. It can turn your water pump and fan on/off based on engine temperature. It can also time out stuff in your car (so you don't have to worry about leaving stuff on after a run). It has warning lights too to let you know when oil pressure is low or a system in your car is failing. Definitely worth checking out. I don't think it is priced too much more than a K&R Switch. Portatree helped developed it and we run them in both of our stockers. |
