Live from Hagerstown Maryland S/SS races

Well, not quite. Getting ready to hit the road in a few minutes. There are a few racers there already, that arrived yesterday:

https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...44728743_n.jpg

Bob and Penny Bender, Vic Guilmino and Nick Reiter are there. I hope to arrive a the track early afternoon to walk around and check things out. I have my laptop to check-in, in the evenings and, time permitting, update some things via my phone during the day, though I likely won't have a lot of time for that.

See you there!

Bart and Chris Kilraine might be able to bring VP fuels. I just left the track a few minutes ago, beautiful sunny 73 degree day here.

Mike , Your list shows the track as having C12 but I would call and check. Also Chris is bringing me some C11 so that might be worth a PM too.

At the risk of sounding like a complete cheapskate broke racer, the Days inn Hagerstown is only 41 dollars on Saturday night, 51 dollars after taxes. On Priceline.com - express purchase - Hagerstown - two star

Bobby, we're not called "cheapskates" any more - we're considered "frugal"! It sounds better! :D

Be safe on the way in!!

At the hotel and checked in. Super 8 said they are receiving a lot of calls, so be sure to call soon if you plan on staying here. Or as Bobby said, there are probably equal or better deals online.

And yes, call or e-mail the track to see what fuel they have, and how much of it they have left and price.

Beautiful weather for Maryland in November.

https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...17920295_n.jpg

For what it's worth, gas is in the $3.30's here at most stations around exits 29 and 32 (Exit 32 is the one for the track on I-70, US 40 east to track).

FWIW..
Refereed Soccer Games at the Germantown SoccerPlex at 32 Degrees F and it was Windy.

Layered and with gloves that would not keep the hands warm.

After Halloween last night a huge fierce storm came through.

Tonight have 3 games in much warmer weather...

Tomorrow more good weather.
Mother Nature cleared the air should be beautiful.

Good morning. It is a clear, cool morning here, just leaned my head out the hotel window. Off to breakfast, then out to the track. See you there, for those who are there or on their way.

Re: Live from Hagerstown Maryland S/SS races

Back at the hotel. Great weekend for sure. Chris Kilraine won the big money today over Danny Henderson. Semi's were Tom Losket and Brad Huntzberry. Chris and Dan EACH took home more money than the cash purse pays to the WINNER at the NHRA U.S. Nationals at Indy. Sixty-four cars on the grounds today, fifty-seven made first round. Thanks to EVERYONE for an awesome weekend. I think we equaled the all-time record car count of 72 total S/SS cars for the weekend that was set two years ago (and only five were Nostalgia/SS). We look forward to next years Association races (and Elmer has said we'll return next year to Hagerstown for my twentieth straight year doing this event.

Thank you again to everyone who came out this weekend, for one or both days. We'll do it again at H-town next year (along with our races at Quaker City and Pittsburgh).

Anyone within a 3 or 4 hr. tow of Hagerstown should of have been at this race. The weather was great, and we had a fantastic time as always....although Holgar,Kathy and Charlie kept us up to 1:30 am on Sat.(Martinis were involved) The track personnel were all great and the starting line was second to none. All the colorful(?) people were there...Lew Silverman, Billy Nees, Dan Fahey, Chuck Weber and his crew, just to name a few. Thanks again to Mike Carr and his family for making the effort to make this race happen...Good Job Guys.

Thanks again.......Terry and Barbara

Re: Live from Hagerstown Maryland S/SS races

Can someone post a final qualifying for Stock/Super Stock?

Mike Carr 11-04-2013 04:19 PM

Re: Live from Hagerstown Maryland S/SS races

Jim, we don't have qualifying in our Association races, since 2 of the 3 tracks we race at do not have scales, none have fuel check equipment or qualified tech officials. Since 1996, I have done over sixty S/SS races at ten tracks in four states. Only three of the tracks have had scales, none have any of the other stuff needed to have true qualifying.

I will have full round-by-round results from each day's race posted sometime soon today.

We would like to thank Mike etal for putting on a great show and the staff at MD Dragway for giving us one hell of a racing surface. We had a great time. Terry, If memory serves you came to our MH with drinks so I do not think we were holding you captive or anything like that. If anything you kept us up til 1:30! Holgar & Kathy
