Re: Indy Announcer
None of them know anything about our classes
I just found out our V10 is a hemi with 20 sparkplugs Idiot - perhaps a trip through the pits would help |

Re: Indy Announcer
Let me just say that Nick Agresta is a super nice guy who has raced, managed racetracks and is a long time announcers guild member. Maybe an off day? Hate to hear this said about him.
|
Re: Indy Announcer
I have to agree with tommyd Nick is one of the Good Guys who was just living the dream of announcing at the Big Go, I believe it was his 50th consecutive U.S. Nationals. I understand we are all partial to our favorite announcers. But Nick is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He may not have the technical side of stock and super stock like a Leo or Bob Frey but there is not much in this sport he has not done.
|
Re: Indy Announcer
Could not believe what I was hearing. I just figured the real announcers had an accident on the way to the track, so they grabbed somebody from security that could read the computer screen. That was extremely weak....not at the biggest race of the year...come on man! Maybe those guys can get a job doing Monday Night Football next....unbelievable !

Re: Indy Announcer
I am really sorry to hear all the negativity towards Nick. As someone said maybe he was having a bad day. We are all use to Leo who knows everyone and there story.
But let me tell you all you will never find a person with more passion towards drag racing then Nick Agresta. Everytime you go to crossroads dragway nick makes you feel like a rock star. I have know Nick since I started racing 28 years ago. He has done it all in racing. Every year I see him setting in the same place at the U.S. Nationals and there isn't a happier guy in the stands then Nick. So please take it easy on my friend. " Do a Wheelie" |

Come on NHRA and get Bret Kepner in there. He's at the race, probably around the 1000' mark, can't mis him he's the one everybody is listening to. Claude Ruel

Re: Indy Announcer
And also he his a heck of vp fuel salesman to talk to at Terre Haute Indiana but that probably doesn't matter to anybody either. Do a wheelie Nick
|
Re: Indy Announcer
Is this Nick the same one that works @ VP fuels,he told me this would be his 50 th year at US Nationals
Did'nt hear the audio but if this the same Nick, I know he is really nice guy and I would say he had bad day or nerves,it is US NATIONALS, I have the knowledge to do the job but I know I don't have rest of what it takes to be any good @ announcing. Travis answered my question,I feel bad for Nick,I think it would be a hard job to do. Mike Taylor 3601 |
Re: Indy Announcer
Where is Bob the voice of sportsman racing. Really, they need help
|
Re: Indy Announcer
Was very refreshing to hear Leo back at the mike again.
|
Re: Indy Announcer
Yes mike same nick at vp you talk to
|
Re: Indy Announcer
Leo is very good at it but give a guy a break if he doesn't no every comb, people complaining about announcers need to think about complaining about something that is important

It's very nice that the guys who know him are defending him. That being said,it's too bad the PA system didn't short out during his stint at the mike.Bad meat is bad meat.

Re: Indy Announcer
Used to be the first two days at Indy you had a whole bunch of different announcers from the NHRA announcers Guild taking turns at the mic.
Some were ok, some were way out of their league , but you usually only had to endure the bad ones for maybe one round or one class. Kind of really makes you appreciate the job guys line Bob Frey , Leo , and Louis have done over the years. Besides Leo , I think only Alan Reinhart and Louis Bloom have the knowledge and appreciation for the Sportsman classes to announce a race this big. |
Re: Indy Announcer
Why are you guys complaining when you have the solution right there with you. Find Billy Nees and put him in the booth, he is quite knowledgeable. I can hear it now.......
" In the right lane we have a FFFFFord vs a Chevy out of somewhere. We have a winner and a loser. Next pair up another FFFFord vs a Mopar, Damm it another winner and loser. This pair features a FFFFord vs a Pontiac Sunbird Dime Rocket. Yeahhh the Pontiac wins just like I knew he would, take that you FFFFFord." And now for a commercial break! Hemroids got you out of the drivers seat,......become a crew chief. Now back to the action" Ron Ortiz U/SA couldn't qualify |

Re: Indy Announcer
Hey Billy, why haven't you responded to this thread. You are doing a fine job of reporting with that typical "Nees Twist on Things". Everyone wants you to be a reporter, even people who don't like you or your shirts, or your old hat, and that's not counting the people that you hang with. Me personally, I approve of your reporting skills. Go forward young man!
