Can someone help me answer this?!
In the 1950s what was the name Of the aftermarket hydraulic device Used in dump trucks which became the theoretical precursor Of the 60s era line Lock made by Hurst for dragracing And then adapted to stunt driving in the early 1970s. We need a marketing name of this device. HINT two words both starting with same letter. Thanks!

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
I'm gonna go with "Hill Holder"

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
Some 50's and even 60's trucks and farm equipment had "Micro locks" on them......not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
Line Lock

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
I didn't think it would be line lock since they used that in the question. Hill holder sounds good. It's for a $500 discount to Rick Seamen Stunt Driving School in Rosamond, CA.

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
mico brakes, i remember the old ups trucks i drove in the early 70s all had them, VERY unreliable, ask me how i know

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
haha thanks.. micro brakes is probably what they were called but I need the marketing name and the hint says it is two words, same first letter in both words which is why Hill Holder makes sense.

Standard equipment on Studebakers starting in the late '40's.

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
Mark! Correct answer was hill holder. Thanks guys. Thanks Mark. I don't know from where you hail but I can hook you up with a ladder program or excessive amounts of pizza, sausage, pork, and red meat if you ever stop by my trailer at any race.

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
The "Hill-Holder" was offered on most Studebaker's and a lot of the vehicles of the 50's and 60's with Borg-Warner transmissions as original equipment, including Jaguar sedans.
The "Mico-Brake" was an accessory available for medium- and heavy- trucks to supplement the service brakes and act as an "emergency brake". They still make them in North Mankato, MN.! Lew |

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
One of the imports had that hill holding devise back in the 70's and I cannot remember what car it was (Subaru?) but it released when the clutch pedal was releasing. While holding the brake you pushed the button and it released with the clutch pedal stroke. I drove it and cannot remember... Uh no comments please... Especially you Blackstone! I am sure someone remembers.

In 1969 Ihad a 1947 chev fleetmaster with a hill holder. worked great on Seattle hills with stop lights. lots of really good backseat memories in that ride.

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
They definetly werent hill holders. Back in 83 on a Montana winter power line construction job we left a Mico Brake on all day {ebrake cables were ripped off}. Got out after lunch in winter when we left the engine run all day, shut the door and watched the truck take off down the hill & out of site dragging a generator and scattering material for well over 1/4 of a mile. The crew thought it was a lot funnier then the foreman did {me}

Re: Can someone help me answer this?!
I had one on the dump truck I drove back then. Micro Lock, didn't work very well then either. Kinda better than nothing. 66 I think. It was a 10000 series Chevrolet with a 322 Buick motor.
