Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
9 Attachment(s)
Hi kids -- Believe it or not its 3:45 and there are 21 rows of trailors waiting to get in @ 4pm .I left early enough but had many stops on the way here and am now stuck in row 17 .As you'll see from my pics fuel prices are up even at the discount stations .Another stop I made at a mall on route 18 was for groceries and I wanted to get some new shoes but ended up with nothing .Further down the road I found a Pathmark and picked up all the staples needed for the weekend but no shoes .Some plans never work out .
This afternoon is parking only so in an hour or two everyone will surely be bored .Weather ? ? Warm and a little muggy ........I'm goin' out for a little air .......later. |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Jack, last week on my way to Indy, prices in Michigan Illinois and Indiana were all close 3.99 to 4.13 a gallon. Looks like a bargain in your end. Good Luck this week-end. Claude

Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
We filled up last night to go to Woodburn points race diesel 4.39 a gallon in central Washington.

Sorry about running over your thread Jack, I've done a lot of traveling this year and it never ceases to amaze me how the West Coast consistently runs higher than other areas (yes, exceptions like Chicago and such on the high end and South Carolina in general on the low end) because for the most part fuel is priced very close everywhere more so than I've ever seen. |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Jack,
They found this neat little trick out here in California................ Cash price & credit price.............. Diesel fuel at the truck stops (T/A, Loves etc.)..... Credit Price = $4.55 a gallon for diesel.... $3.85 a gallon. That’s chump change Bob |

Well folks here's the deal - in New Jersey there is no recession - how do I know - all you have to do is take one look at the pits and you can tell - its Thursday night and the place is parked up plenty - no tech going on - no time trials - nothing - nada and yet they came ---- go figure ......... not even free eats tonight ...........

Good morning - And believe me it is good - sunshine / blue skies and a pretty nice day here at Raceway Park .Weather outlook is terrific so if you're on the fence my advise is saddle up and head on over .Temp at this moment is 77 degrees with 69 % humidity but burning off fast with the barometer at 29.80 and steady - DA is at a solid 2200 feet .
The Division One Certification Team held its morning meeting and now Tech is open but starting of engines isn't until 10 AM so cars must be towed to Tech that is being held in the staging lanes .Time trials will start around 10:15 ......... |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Stock just got their first taste of the Englishtown track and most didn't care for it .The track was plenty slippery and what do you know -- welcome back Summer ! ! Its hot - humid and very , very sticky everywhere - inside , outside and you can't get away from it no matter how hard you try .Most competitors were an honest tenth or so off their normal times .BTW , the DA is getting close to 3000 ' at this early hour .
SuperStock up soon ....... |

Former World Champion Alan Peters showed up today driving a F / S '62 Impala 409 wagon .......at 4200 lbs this is a challenge to say the least - but a nice car -- good to see Alan out with it .

Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Jack,
Just to let everyone know this car is owned and maintained by Ray Whitney with help from some of his long time friends. It is a do over of his 409 wagon which he campaigned in the late sixties. Rich Simone |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Now that is a cool car!
In 1964 I was at Atco and the two guys pitted beside me were running a 409/409 4sp wagon....don't remember the class. JimR |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
I just heard that first round for everyone is tomorrow, no qualifying or time shots except for comp and the top classes. All late arrivals are placed on the bottom of ladder.

We're done for the day as a Comp car switched lanes and went on the other lanes wall ( Fred Gallo - he's OK - on the way to the hospital ) .
I'm told many time trials and q-passes will be skipped tomorrow morning and go right into elims ......I'll keep you posted about this . |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

A few more photos from John. The photo of Gary Richard's SS/EA 2010 CJ is right after teardown. Not only did Gary qualify number 1 in Stock and Super Stock, he also set the SS/EA record at 9.34@139. This is with the air at 3000ft and a 10 to 15 mph headwind. Congrats to Gary and his outstanding crew on their record and number 1 qualifying. The last photo of Super Stock right under the tower is a view many racers and crew get while watching todays racing. Stay tune there is more.... |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
This in car cam is Russell Linke aka "Bubba" driving his dad's 73 SS/JA Corvette. The lighting is not great and it was hard to get a good camera angle, but I thought it was cool.
one more to come.... |
Re: Live from Old Bridge Township-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Its been a long day, and this will be the last one for the evening. I thought it would be nice to see the cars getting ready to run in the staging lanes. This is Super Stock getting ready to run there second qualifying shot.
