"Live" from the 2012 US Nationals in Indy!
 

We are on our way! The only good thing about getting beat early at Bowling Green is heading up early to Indy! We should be there by about 1:30. For those of you leaving BG, it is about a 4 hour drive. They were supposed to begin stacking at noon today, so all those in line should be about cleared out by the time we get there. Lots of rigs had already pulled out before we did this morning from Beech Bend.

We are looking forward to a good time, lots of good race cars and racing, and seeing old friends again!

Oh Buckner Boys racing--hope you have lots of gas for that margaritta machine! See ya'll there!

We're here! We're here! #79! As we were coming down Crawfordsville Road, Larry guessed we would be #100 and I said #79. He couldn't believe I got it on the nose! So do I win a prize?? Oh well.

Patsy/Larry you guys are great for always posting the "Live From" coverage. This year my son and I are coming to Indy and I am looking forward to thanking you in person.

Patsy I'm excited that you and Larry are there! I'm leaving tomorrow late afternoon to at least get way north of Atlanta so I don't have to deal with commuter traffic.

I'll be getting to Indy sometime Tuesday afternoon....will pack an extra bottle of wine!

Karen, it would be nice to share a glass of wine with you! In proper stemware, of course.

A few notes from here--They have started filling up the back lot before it got dark. They are up to probably #130 or more. I didn't walk around the fence to see just what # they were at. Stock entries are now down to 167 and will probably be falling more. Jeff Teuton's son Joseph is staying home with his wife and family because of the hurricane that is due to arrive Tues or Wed. Also John Duzac has pulled out of line and headed home this evening. Jeff's cars are going to be driven by Larry Stewart in Stock and Jeff Strickland in super stock. I believe the Hebert's are watching the weather pretty closely, too. I was talking to Rock Haas earlier and he said Don Fezell messed up his car a little at Milan this weekend. I don't know if it has knocked him out or not. Also Drew Skillman's car blew an engine at Milan while being driven by his dad, Bill.

The local Indy parking crew has been friendlier and nicer than I can ever remember in the past!

Well more later. It is dark now and most everyone is back in their motorhomes for the evening.

Hey Stephen, you can just pay us back with some of those good Louisiana pralines!!

It is 8:30 now and we are supposed to begin parking at 9, but it is still raining. I think they will wait til it stops and let it soak in a bit. It didn't start raining til around 6 and it has rained pretty hard off and on. I will let you know when it stops and I get outside.

Like Patsy said, WET!. Rolled in yesterday about 4pm from Milan. The weather is supposed to break late morning, but it does not look good right now. Its raining lightly as I type.

They were supposed to start parking us early, but the rain has obviously put that on hold. Either me or Patsy will have more info as the day progresses.

Hey guys they aren't parking or letting anyone else in the track. They told us to go find a car lot or shopping center to park in. I guess if you guys could post when they start parking you guys so all of us know when to head down that way we are scattered all across town lol thanks

It has stopped raining, but nobody is moving yet. Nothing official yet, but rumors are they are not moving anything until at least noon. NHRA is not even over here handing out credentials yet. I will let you know when we hear something official.

The clouds are starting to break up, hopefully they will give us some idea of when we will start moving in. Like Patsy said there is no info on what they plan to do.

Knowing we have some time, Mike Ficacci took out the G/SA CJ for some tuning.

If I get anymore info, I will be sure to pass it on.

Indy has had a very dry summer, drought conditions. Sure way to cure that is to schedule a drag race there! lol

Even with today's rain, I am absolutely amazed at that green grass in the photos. 250 miles to the west and my lawn still looks like Sonoma.

While Indy sometimes (always?) is an endurance test, I still miss being there. Good luck to all those competing.

They have taken in 3 rows so far. They are parking one row at a time, then the next one pulls in. They are telling everyone to not pull up in line until the one in front of you reaches the pavement.

They are letting rigs in now and parking them right back where the others just pulled out. It could be a mess before long. I have not seen anyone get stuck, but it is getting gooky at the front of the lines.

They are hoping to park everyone who is in this first lot today, but it depends on how well it is going inside the track. There are about 130 rigs in this first lot, then another 100 or so in the lot behind us. The pros are being parked at the round track.

We are in and parked! We are up against the fence next to the track almost as far as you can go. So come on by and see us! Looks like they like about 4 more rows or so getting everyone in the first lot parked. I don't know if they will make it by dark or not.

Larry, George and I just arrived home. Even though the storm is still a day or two away from landfall, things are crazy around here, Gas stations are running out of gas. Other gas stations are raising their prices. What made me decide to come home was when my 90 year old dad called me and said he was going to drive to Houston! Thats not going to happen. Vicki picked him up this morning and when I arrived home he was watching TV in my livingroom. All's well that ends well. George's wife was pretty concerned as well.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in Stock Eliminator Good Luck. I sure wish I could be there to see the Factory Shoot-out and Stock Class Eliminations.

John, we wish you well and hopefully the hurricane won't be as bad as they say or somehow it will miss you. Be sure and keep us updated if possible of how you are doing. Family is lots more important than a race any day!

They have started pulling in the 2nd lot. Don't know how far they will get, but at least they are getting in as many as they can tonight.

I thought Jack might like to know his old ride is at Indy. The rigs that are in here are starting to setup. I see Gary Richard in his usual spot. It seems everyone has there favorite spot at Indy and if you get here early enough, the friendly NHRA parking crew always comes through.

All but about 2 and a half rows in the second lot got parked tonight. They said they are starting again at 8 am and would go just a quick as they could. I also heard they would be teching at 2 different places tomorrow so they could go quicker, but I did not hear where that would be. We just went out to dinner with Mike and Paula Cotten, Eric and Deb Bell and Al Corda at Union Jack's. It was all pretty good.

Well more tomorrow. I will get some pictures up in tech.

Glad you got parked Patsy! I left ATL after I made dinner for the tribe....now sitting at a truck stop outside Nashville for the night. Hopefully I will get a good start in the AM and be there before lunch.

I raided my super secret stash wine fridge...so I have a special bottle that us girls can share!

"It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood!" Weather is great today-- sunny and gonna be about 85. Tech is in full swing and the only place I saw them teching was in staging as usual. It is already over a 2 hour wait! I got a few pictures already:
