There are some dear friends in this slide show who have long since left us. I looked at these photos and thought of all of the whining and complaining that goes on here about how bad the pits are, not enough room to get the motorhome parked and heaven forbid that a super stock car have a "not factory hood scoop." Brett hope you are doing well. That is one super photo of the "Ramchargers" smokie burnout.

X-Tech, you are correct. Seeing these slides brings back a lot of memories. I was thinking of a conversation Ronnie Sox, Bobby Warren and myself had one night at the reunion in Henderson. We were talking about the amount of equipment and everything involved in drag racing now and the amount of money involved. Ronnie commented that all of the money that sponsors spend that the car owner has to answer to all of those sponsors. He said "there is no way that the drag racers today can enjoy racing as much as we did, even though we raced, in most cases three or four times a week in all different locations hauled everything in a truck."

Don't remember the last time I saw a funny car with ladder bars..

If memory serves me right, it was the Pogue brothers 58 Ford that mowed the tree down. Fun times! I loved AHRA.

There's a few 68 Super Stock Darts and Barracuda's in here, but can anyone make out the name on the door of the blue & white 68 Hemi Barracuda about mid way through the video clip.

I see most everyone was on the dirt,,,but Snake & Mongoose are pitted on grass,,, also see Marvin Schwartz in Garlits' car, so this must've been while "Big Daddy" was recovering from his accident at Lion's earlier that year. Thats deffinately a cool look back at how it was,,, no toterhomes and stacker trailers then.
