I don't remember seeing you there? He did get left on only because the guy got real lucky on guessing when to leave. Rusty did really good for someone who didn't even want to go.

Tree, arm drop, whatever! I was posting on my iPhone.

Didn't see me there? I was one of the spectators!

I tell ya'll, they sure know how to make money. The spectator fee was $25.00 per person, minimum. And while the stands were not packed, they were certainly filled pretty decently. Took me awhile to get out of the parking lot.
There was 425 cars entered also.

My buddy Kelly Painter entered his street car '69 GTX. It's all stock looking except Cragar SS wheels and a six-pack hood. Has a 572 w/ Torqueflite and 3.23 gears. He was using M/T drag radials and full exhaust. Ran 11.14 and was thrown out for no roll-bar. He even drives it from AZ to his brothers deal, Mopars at the Strip in Vegas. :)

Didn't see you there either! I was hanging with Brian and his family. Kelly was walking around saying he was happy he went 11 teens in street trim but sad he couldn't run anymore because of no roll bar. Saw Mark M before he left. I was amazed by how fast they ran the program and the vendors/spectators. I left after the drivers meeting. Also saw Angelo and Kenny and of course Raul was working the lanes. A bunch of class guys and all we could do was root for Rusty. To bad Rusty couldn't pull it off! Also had 1 of the guys from Earnhardt's trying to make the show. A lot of fun-reminded of the fun days of racing-BBQ friends etc. Also you forgot to mention that the entry was $60 per car for a chance to win $10K. Just proves what idiots we really are!

Jess,
I was working and was on the SR51 and Bell Rd @ 5:07
I made it to Firebird @ 5:30.
I made it to the spectator grandstands where Kelly, Mark and Randy were sitting just before the big show started.
I would have been there all day but I had a Cub Scout pack meeting @ 1:00-2:00 and 5 inspections after that!

So Rusty,
Great job on making the show. Probably paid for your entry and gas with enough for a nice date for you and your wife. Sounds like a win to me! Your car looked awesome from the stands and it was great at least one class car was in the finals.
The final hot laps by the final pair was almost exciting but I don't want to spoil the ending.

Congratulations. We will be checking you out on TV. We have run three of them and we were in at Bristol but blew the motor at Virginia. Those races are a lot of fun. Alot of spectators and the pits are busy day and night.

I had went 10.23 and 10.24 in white Monte. The bump was Bill Wallace with the Capri at 10.27 and the slowest was 10.50. I was close but no cigar. Got into wheelie contest and blew the tires off.

When will this air on tv??

aspen7709 11-22-2010 12:26 PM

Congratulations to Rusty Hall! I was there,on the start line,in the pits,& til the end. We as a group of racers (stock / superstock racers) could not have asked for a better rep for our type of racing. He wasTHE ONLY class car there. He got picked. He got more potential television coverage than ANY OTHER class ALL YEAR! including the world champs & Indy winners.

I do not want to diminish others accomplishments but what Rusty did will be big for us. It will let average joes know what a aa/sa stock eliminator car is & does.

the ending is HUGE HIGH DRAMA i cant give away but lets just say the winner was preordained by god to win.

My only complaint was the FACT that the winning car should not have been there because it slipped through tech. This car was running 10.40s with STOCK 4 lug axles with an 8.8 rear end! BIG TIME RISK @ an event "where safety is our biggest concern" as said by Rich Christiansen him self!

All in All a great time and my hat is off to you Rust Hall you made us all proud to know you be there cheering you on and we would all do it again in a heartbeat.

P.S. the episode is scheduled to air in january. stay tuned however i heard multiple times this weekend that this is the last one... ever.

Re: Rusty Hall @ Pinks Sweet 16

Aspen, apparently there has been some slip-ups at tech in these last few races. I saw a show last week, I believe, where a car was selected for the 32 car, had gotten through without a roll bar for the et he was running in and was removed from competition at the starting line.

I too have heard that this may be the last year. I have heard that NHRA is expanding their Unleashed, similar to Pinks All Out, program next year to 12 or 14 races.

Re: Rusty Hall @ Pinks Sweet 16

For sure they didnt catch everyone in tech. The problem was that cars with bars claimed the F catagory which was 10.0 to 10.5. Yet they would run 9.90 s in the 2 time shots. I know of 4 cars that were not legal but slipped through the cracks. Didnt think it was a big deal. Hopefully like others said that with Rusty rep'ing the S/SS group that the show will emphasize what the car is and give class racing a booster shot.

Re: Rusty Hall @ Pinks Sweet 16

Why would they discontinue the Pinks show? At one time it was the biggest show on Speed Channel. Gotta think it's still up there in ratings.

Only hear say but I heard Rich whats to move on. Whatever that means. Anyone else what to try and make the show continue?

Congrats Rusty! I got into the final 8 at the all out in Houston last month. It was a blast, and definitley memories that I will never forget. Me and Jason both made it in the final 32, a 9.50 class. Me, in the AA/SA 09' challenger, and Jason in the yellow barracuda super street car. Funny how we see the final round at Indy, and we end up with more air time getting to the quartefinals at pinks! No worries, you will get to see me get "treed" first before y'alls airs. The Houston show is airing January 6th. Looking forward to seeing a couple of class cars represent finally.

Re: Rusty Hall @ Pinks Sweet 16

I worked at the event since the engine is out of my car. Most of the time I worked with a long time staffer at the Speed Channel. He told me Rich had already decided this was his last year. He has pitched a few new show ideas to several networks but nothing has come thru. As of Saturday the Speed Channel has not entered into an agreement with the production company that puts on Pinks. I would say that Pinks is done.

Rusty Hall

Congrats on your making it into the money Rusty, I'm glad I was there to see you do it as well...Angelo, a bud of his & his sons, and I were rooting for you @ half-track! I wish more Stockers/ Super Stockers were there, because their (so -called) wheel-standers were not very impressive, compared to a lot of racers on this website & their cars!!!
