sbc horsepower?

How much horsepower can I expect from a built for stock 327 275 hp ...I have Carter and Rochester Quadrajets which would be best to use...are crank scrapers legal?

Im just guessing here I would say 420 is easily do able even on a soft dyno if you have all your ducks lined up.Thats saying you are making 1.28 per cubi inch i have no calculator :)

Good thing we don't race dynos......I have 2 customers that make a little over 380 and both qualified very easy at INDY.

I guess WJ needs to get his dyno calibrated too...lol It doesn't really matter what a motor makes on a dyno, its how fast it runs. Always use the same dyno when testing and try to improve on what you have. After all, its the improvements that make you faster.

dyno, racetrack, dyno, racetrack, dyno, etc, etc, ect,.....

What he said! LOL!
Until you know what the number means at the track, the number does not tell you much.

Calm down Tommy :)

My 283 shows a lot higher than that on the dyno we use. I bet Wade's shows lower numbers and it still eats my lunch in the hp department. Go figure.

The info you stated about using the same dyno is really true, and knowing what YOUR numbers mean on the time slip will always rule the day.

I've built a number of these motors and the one I just finished makes 415 w/ break-in oil. It will be going in a 67 Chevy II so when it's done maybe we can compare sheets & slips?
