350 chevy bore size?
I am going to have my block bored, it's standard now, and wondered how much et I will sacrifice if I go .030 instead of .060. Anyone race a stocker with the .030 block then later punch out to .060? Was there a substantial gain? I don't know if there is much power in 5 extra cubic inches. Block could be used so much longer this way. Thanks in advance for any info provided.

On the great big assumption that going bigger doesn't compromise ring seal,
and if your building a Stocker that should be able to make at least 1.25 HP per CID, then you have to ask yourself is 6.25 HP worth anything to you? Someday that extra .05- in ET may come in handy. |

Re: 350 chevy bore size?
I run a low compression 350 and I can tell you that ever cubic inches is worth about 1 hp
or better and all my engines are 60 over plus So the more inches the better (that is from a pro engine shop) |

On the subject of Bowtie blocks. Is the 30+# weight increase worth the .060" + over bore you can get?The Chevrolet Power book states that the 10051183 block can go as high as 4.090" bore.

Re: 350 chevy bore size?
Thanks for the serious reply Jim. I am using a chevy block, the 010 block. I used one just like it when I built the superstock engine yrs. ago. On that engine I had it bored .060 from standard. I had wall thickness checked and some sides were marginal at best. I used the "Hardblock" brand filler on it. It was a very dependable engine, although not real fast. As I learned more about superstock engines I applied that to the engine and it picked up gradually. My thinking is that maybe I shouldn't have gone .060 with that piece. Would you use hardblock on a block if it is .030 and in stock not superstock? Again, thanks for your serious answer. I believe I saw you, and maybe a brother, racing a 68 camaro in superstock at Houston Nat'l. in 2002, 2003, or 2004. My memory is not real good, but I remember your name on the sheets. I thought you were either having trouble with the car or new car bugs. I was the bright orange 69 camaro ss/ha. I was having the time of my life and probably showed it.
