Re: getting started
What in the rulebook do you not understand. Yes there are some gray areas but its pretty much cut and dry. Remember that when you remove the hvac stuff off the firewall you must make a piece to replace lip to hold weatherstripping. Go to your nearest div. race or an s/ss asc. race. You'll find at least one person willing to answer all your questions.

Biggest piece of advice I can give ? If you have really (RTFM) then ask the question here, explaining how YOU believe you understood it. Ignore any flames, and wait for an answer someone will help, sometimes by PM, you cant believe how many questions I have had answered by all the wonderfull class racers here via PM who dont post in the public light. You wont get an answer if you dont ask, OR you expect (and I certainly dont think this is the case) someone else to figure it out for you. Learn to grow a thick skin, the answers are here, the combined experience of racers here is usnderstimated by new people, myself included. |
Re: getting started
The piece your talking about ,the lip that goes under the hood, you can get from one of the vendors that advertises on malibu racing .com. Other than that what else would you like to know.

Chris, I agree with what you say here. These two lines say alot. Only other thing I can add. IF you have a question, think it out and give as much information as possible. The more information YOU provide, the better a chance you will get a response. As Chris said, many that offer the best advise, DON'T post on the forum that often. Good luck, |

Re: getting started
how bout the suspension front can't have any aftermarket control arms but can change bushings correct, and the rears can be aftermarket but have to be nhra approved how do i know which are or aren't. also can i use an aftermarket trans crossmember for a th350 in the g body that i didn't find in the rulebook.

Here is the direct link. http://www.nhra.com/userfiles/file/N...roducts-11.pdf I would read it and learn everything about your engine / options / desires you can, in my case I have been limited because of the lack of availability of approved products for the package I last worked on. BUT for you .... it should be chock full of dollar spending goodness. |

If they're buying that weebie jeebie stuff, they ought to buy just about anything. You might get away with the crossmember. I don't think they've specifically addressed that issue yet. I know they wouldn't want to see some flimsy, lightweight thing under there. Just modify a stock one if you're looking for header clearance on the left side. You ought to be using a TH 200 , but the mount is in the same place anyway. |
Re: getting started
thanks for the link i missed that one answered alot of questions like to use a th200 but i got 2 th350's so work with them till i can get fancy

Re: getting started
Listen more and talk less. I don't mean you are too talkative, but if you will listen to people that have been doing this for a while you cn learn a whole lot.

Re: getting started
Attend a race and look for a combo like yours, talk to the owner, racers like to help others, ask him if you can take detailed pictures and ask questions and take notes...most racers will be glad to help you.
Oh, Welcome to the toughest drag racing class in the NHRA! JimR |
Re: getting started
thats the plan should be at a lucas oil race in august and the toyo tire national at reading just for research.
