Division 6 Mission lodrs pictures
1 Attachment(s)
Well the rain is holding out enough that racing has been happening...thats the good news. I feel a little like Drooze and company ,so far 4 passes and 4 passes worth of broken ****! I was first pair this afternoon with Angela Bushmaker and 'BOOM" lost a drive shaft.....no leaks but what a mess underneath the car and maybe kissed a valve we will see (picture below). Like last year I am attaching a link to photobucket so check them out...this isnt all the cars some where hiding from the potential rain, I will try to get the rest if I can get my 'Part Breaker' fixed tommorrow. http://s694.photobucket.com/albums/v...%20May%202010/

Re: Division 6 Mission lodrs pictures
So thats what happened to you Dion. I`d take a close look at the case of your transmission, I had a driveshaft break like that in my 66 Fairlane 390 back in the 70`s, and when I looked, the bellhousing area was cracked from pan rail to pan rail. Mine broke going into high gear, and that rear section banging of the rear floorboards sure makes a racket, doesn`t it!? Dave Jungs Malibu broke a driveshaft like that a few weeks ago, and his trans case was broken too. Hopefully your trans is OK & you can get another shaft for the weekend.

I know how you feel Dion, We're on our third transmission in the dart so far this weekend. We had to put a TCI street car trans in last night once we determined the protrans wasn't going to be fixable this weekend. Hope to see you in staging today.

Thanks for the pictures!
Those of us at home-a mere 1 hour away-that desperately wish they were racing, or at least up there, really appreciate it! |
Re: Division 6 Mission lodrs pictures
well day 2 was a rain out all cars were in the trailers except mine, we were busy swapping in a brand used transmission because of the second broken case this year. It looks like tomorrow will be a one hit then eliminations. The joke was with all the work i've been up to this week i'd be last man standing, heres hoping but good luck to all tomorrow!

Hey Dion,
Any chance you could post a pic of the Cour Family's new Cobra Jet? |

Re: Division 6 Mission lodrs pictures
I didnt get any better photos of the Cour cobra jet, I was too busy trying to get my stuff 'tuned up' have only made 2 full track passes this year. In spite of the damage this year at Mission I had a blast ,and thanks to all that helped out to get me on the track for sunday. Specifically Art Congdon, Eric Goulden, and Allan Marcial as well as many others lending encouagement to my plight. Good times Good times!
By the way I did get a chance to snap some more photos of cars that were hiding on me, and they are on my 'bucket account.. thanx. |
Re: Division 6 Mission lodrs pictures
Dion, sorry to see you go through what you did on the weekend. It started when you pulled into the tech lanes and I saw you looking at the rear suspension as the tire rubbed. Do you know what happened to the driveshaft? I had a similar failure on the first run on my malibu earlier this year, I'm just wondering if you had an idea what happened. Did the driveshaft just fail? Or did something happen to cause the shaft to break?
The race was just cancelled due to rain and will be completed on the thursday of the Seattle divisional race. They gotta move this race later in the year. |
Re: Division 6 Mission lodrs pictures
With out throwing anybody under the bus the driveshaft failed because of a repair that was done, the repair is a common repair for a street car ,just not a race car. I wasnt told the procedure for repair but I should have put 2 & 2 together, hind sight 20/20 right? at the end of the day I was impressed with the 60 foot and the trap mile per hour, my engine guy Ernie Penner got me some ponies I just need the car to work 100%, for 100% of the time.haha
I just looked at the photos and I must apologize for the misspelling of some of the names and blanks on others..... total brain fart....or lack of sleep. |
