A solution to the grade point issue
Here's my solution,
Anyone without a grade point that would like to run a National event that is not at the quota, may purchase a grade point from the NHRA for the cost of a Divisional entry plus a reasonable amount of travel money. My thought would be around $600.00 Why not? |
Re: A solution to the grade point issue
Why not? Because they do not need another excuse to take money from racers for no purpose.

Re: A solution to the grade point issue
i think it was meant as "tongue in cheek" unless your famous these are the prices and rules we have to abide by to get in...

Re: A solution to the grade point issue
Heck I can go actually run the race for half that, have a good time and if I'm lucky make a dollar. If I didn't have a Nat. in my back yard I guess I wouldn't even worry about it at all. Joe How' bout buy a grade point from another racer?

Re: A solution to the grade point issue
Art,
I said a (single) grade point, not mulitple grade points. I also specified that the race had to not have the quota filled. Could we stay on topic please? See you at the races. Wayne Kerr, |
Re: A solution to the grade point issue
Why not just open the field to anyone who wants to race and do away completely with grade points?
Way back when I raced AHRA all you had to do was show up at the gate and pay your money. It seemed to work fine and that's the way the nhra started. JimR |
Re: A solution to the grade point issue
JimR, cut it out. That is so far fetched. Showing up at a race and paying at the gate. That must be something else. Paying at the gate ha ha ha. ...................wait a minute. I did that at Belle Rose, and it was great. I change my mind, JimR has got the answer. Thank you JimR, can you please persuade the HRA's to do that.
Ron Ortiz U/SA at the gate, thats funny |

"Why not just open the field to anyone who wants to race and do away completely with grade points?"
That would just about be the death knell for points meets, wouldn't it,Jim? Who would go to them at that point, unless they were just down the street. The Divisionals entry / payout ratio would then have to be adjusted to be at least the same as a mediocre bracket race. Never gonna happen.... |

Re: A solution to the grade point issue
Yeah, back then, $7500 would just about buy you a really nice new truck to tow with. A similar truck today would cost you $40K or more.

It is much more expensive to race now and the level of competition is way up. There aren't many first round turkeys anymore. |
Re: A solution to the grade point issue
Please take your thread jacking NHRA bashing to your own thread.
I was offering a suggestion to eliminate the other pi$$ing and moaning about Kurt Busch, Roy Hill etc. You could name your thread "A thousand reasons why I hate the _HRA" We actually like racing in the NHRA, yes there are things that could be improved, but it's still the best game in town. See you at the races, Wayne Kerr |
Re: A solution to the grade point issue
You can and its a lot cheaper than that, grab one of the Family Sedans or a rental that is in the guides and Tech through.
Simple, I did it with the Pacifica.... Found out I didnt have to lay down that blistering 25 second pass while I changed the CD to "Cracklin Rosie" but , oh well.....It makes for an interesting story......bad decisions almost always make for good stories as Mandie has a sticker on her fridge that says that Im starting to believe it.
