Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
I talked to my friend and transmission builder Thomas Arnett and he wanted me to post on here that he is looking for a new Mustang or maybe Challenger. Does anyone know a dealer where he might find one?

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
Sure, 2010 Challengers are in production. 6.1 only, same as the others. How many you want?

Jeff, you can call Thomas at 270-338-6325

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
Jeff, Those sound like the 4200 lb tank versions. I believe he's looking for a DP or CJ.

Clay, Jeff has multiple 2010 D.P. cars ordered. Might have a 09 as well.......

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
k.pascoe I haven't weighed on personally but most places list the weight between 4000-4100 for the R/T and the SRT8 is 4100-4200. Sorry for overestimating you a bit. :)
So then all the DP's you have are 6.1's Jeff? |
Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
Just weighed my Magnum 4516 with 1/4 tank of gas. But it did run 13.11 @107.1 on motor

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
Dam he could have bought 2 for that money, nothing like making a profit.

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
I have a new 2008 CJ that I'll sell at a fair price. I bought it new and it's # 49. Also have all new parts to convert to an automatic.

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
The 2010 DP are all 6.1. Same car as 2009. I think you get a boat trailer rear axle to go with the boat trailer tires. So you don't have to throw away the piece that came with the 09's. You want one, all you have to do is call. My completed car weights 3040 without the slightly overweight driver. I used a Mopar 8 3/4 axle, the Dana 60 is heavier. The Hemi motors are a little heavier (I think) than what I used. Email jefft@southlanddodge.com

Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
There's a black DP Challenger on RacingJunk.com for $48K. Has the development mule 392 Hemi engine.
Since the original post said "CJ or DP", my un-educated opinion on the subject is why would anybody race the Challenger if the CJ was an option? Looks like there's a lot less time, money and *** ache in the CJ as a project. But then again, I have an AMC race car...:o |
Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
I agree with Jeff. Unless you are a MOPAR nut why would anybody buy a DP over a CJ

Before ? Easy, the DP could compete across 3 different natural classes the Mustang only 1. Only at PRI were the 2010 engines for the CJ announced. Other reasons ? Drag Pak give MUCH more flexibility in the build process than a CJ from suspension to cage to well....everything. Just a thought, as well BEFORE the DP was announced first people got chewy on it and excited about it....and its a pushrod motor something more "old timers" are familiar with..... Lots and lots of reasons..... And if youre a Mopar nut is good enough... |

TRUE ! But the NEW blood that people think these cars will bring in WILL NOT and/or CAN"T do the work themselves. Only the current racers are going to build these cars! How many of these cars campained currently are new blood? |
Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
Mustangs ? I have no idea
Challengers Id say well over 50% are NEW 100% NEW to Class racing. 2 here, and I can list 25 more DP owners JUST off the top of my head. So I think the statment is innacurate at least on the DP side of the world. CJ ? No idea whatsoever. Quote:

Not expecting much and for what Chrysler went thru not expecting any of them to be built... But got a call one day and I'm on the list!!!!!!!! And yes a nobody can get one!!!!!!! I'm a great example of that!!!!!

You know however your post did give me pretty solid food for thought, on the Mustang side how many are new ? We all know the DP scene pretty well, but on the Mustang side how many are / were established racers ? The DP's have their names, Johnson, Garlits, Caughlin, Duell, Warfords, Johns and on who were long established racer. BUT the DP list also contains a lot of other names that are "Huh?" "Who?" Like us. Anyone have a list of CJ owners like I started here for the DP cars a while back ? The mustangs have me very curious and they are sweet machines having a chance to be up close and personal and get trounced by Rock this week in testing :) But very very well done machines. Id love to see how many CJ's get tracked long term and how many get stuffed in a ziploc baggie for future investment. In a way the DP cars are neat that way theyre wortless (retail) not completed. Its a pleasure Junior to be amonst so many other with so few marbles as ourselves. Kinda like a homecoming :) |
Re: Looking for a new Mustang or Challenger
I'm new blood . . . on the list for 2010 DP #16 . . . coming from road racing, still trying to decide whether it is the right move for me.
