Who in your opinion has the best performing/accurate weather station for under $500.

Re: Weather Station
I use Airtronics...@ Norwalk Div. I have a brake single frist round...the weather station was saying a 12.89 so I put that on the window..it went a 12.887....but like everything it's only as good as the user! in other words DON'T put in runs that you know are not right! ;)

Re: Weather Station
The Port A Tree "snap in" weather station and ET prediction software is high on the bang for the bucks list.
Very good prediction software, tunable for your car's "slope" with as few as 10 good runs, if you can carry a laptop or PC to the track. The unit is worth it just for the weather station and practice tree though, even without the software. It is capable of being used with a pager system, for the technically inclined. |
Re: Weather Station
What did you guys pay for the weather station and/or software?

Re: Weather Station
Dave Goob Cook, do you have any experience with the Port-A-Tree system?
Reason I ask, I was looking at buying one and like you said, a very good bang for the buck Just wondering if they have any problems, pros and cons Hope I'm not highjacking your thread njk53 Thanks, Chris |
Re: Weather Station
CSJTA no problem. The more info on weather stations the better. I want to spend my money on the best, most accurate, and easy to use unit or software.

Re: Weather Station

The weather station logs at intervals from 3 minutes to 10 if you wish, has uncorrected (absolute) barometer, relative humidity, and temperature. The only drawback to the prediction software is the need for a PC or laptop, the coolest thing is that you can customize the prediction "slope" to fit your car and tune up. You can store data for each lane, at each track, 1/4 mile or 1/8th mile, with as few as 10 runs or so input, you can get a good prediction output. It's been very reliable, and a nice all in one for reasonable bucks. Also the tech support is second to none, and updates are free at any event you see Al and Sue at. |
Re: Weather Station
Thanks Dave
I race a Fuel Injected car so having a PC/Laptop with me is not a problem. You can't beat the price for what you get with the Port-A-Tree system so I'm seriously considering it I don't race at National events, just a local bracket racer, but it's good to know that customer/tech support is avaiable and updates are easy to access |
Re: Weather Station
It's been very reliable and durable.....as with anything else, don't let it sit out in the rain, and watch your sample area. It comes with a nice mast for the wind meter and temp probe to mount on top of a trailer or such.
It does give D/A, but you have to watch for what your car responds to the most....humidity moves my gasoline tune up more than any one other factor, so while the D/A may not move, the inputs (temp, humidity, baro) may be moving. |
Re: Weather Station
Dave, Can this station work in direct su,light?
|
Re: Weather Station
WELL it didn't @ Indy....Marissa had to bring/buy a new Batt for it...I had 3 "new ones" in the trailer...all Dead! So I guess it wouldn't turn on! ;) LOL ya know they have an exp date on them? man should check that once in a while! LOL

I always just put mine up under the trailer front, or hung it behind the door where it was in shade. |
