Re: national trails super series
I sent Jim Layton an email yesterday. There is one weekend only with a super series race, and he told me there would be no championship and if that one weekend had a decent turn out, that there could possibly me another race.
The wasn't very much support for the series in the past couple of years so it is now gone. What a bummer. It had a fantastic payout for a very small entry fee and was a lot of fun. Hopefully maybe Joe can boost it back up for the future. |
Re: national trails super series
Hope we can get a all-star turn out for the double weekend event and it will show Jim to have more of them.We was doing good last year until the last 2 races then it was all down hill.
Wait and see I guess. I am doing 6 SS/Stock events for Buckeye Stock /Super stock Association. |
Re: national trails super series
Has anyone heard any more about a super series @ Edgewater? If Jim doesn't want to host a super series, maybe someone else will. That was one of the main reasons why I raced @ NTR. Think of all of those double entries Jim is losing out on.
Maybe it's time to get the boat running. |
Re: national trails super series
From what I understand Edgewater is a go, they don't have the dates set yet but as soon as they do I'll give Dewey a call or PM you......................

Re: national trails super series
I'm ready for the season, as long as my job holds out. I'm half way between Edgewater and NTR, so I'll be racing Super Street some where. Thanks Bob

Re: national trails super series
In Jim Layton's defense, not everyone is interested in having a Super Series.
Obviously I enjoyed it, but I have heard alot of other racers who don't. The Sportsman class, Pro class, Bikes, and even some of the Super Pro class racers are tired of being at the track all day long to get 2 time shots and first round completed by 5pm. I know this isn't what anyone on this site wants to hear, but I don't blame all these other racers for being tired of waiting around all day. Personally, if they are going to do away with the Super Series, I think it would be a good idea for the track to consider first round buy backs for the bracket classes. I am all in favor of going to Edgewater to race a Super Series. It's nice to get away from home every now and then. |
Re: national trails super series
Bill if ya come down bring Rex and Penny with ya,I know Rex runs S/ST

Re: national trails super series
I like racing D-3 at NTR, but it is 3+hours away. Edgewater will only be a little over an hour, so depending on the schedule I am going to try and make it.

Re: national trails super series
Bill, So what I am understanding from your post is that none of the other racers care for the Super Series, trust me, I didn't like getting out of there late either, but I think there could have been other things done to accommodate the time restraints. I know they limited the time runs to one on Sunday and they couldn't help the breakage. I know the crew works hard and do an excellent job to get us on the track the best and safest they can with what they have to work with.
NTR ran the Super Series 6 times out of the several weeks they were open, and four of those days were scheduled on Saturday/Sunday events. That makes it a 4 weekend series. How does the Super Series entries compare to the Super 32 which is still on the schedule as a full series. Hey Bob, I'm not sure Rex would survive driving that far w/ Penny or is that Penney surviving. LOL |
Re: national trails super series
we were planning on running 2 cars in super street, and we are close to sealing a deal on a 3rd car,and we also planned on running the entire super series this year,i am sure once i tell dad he will be pretty bummed out,he was looking forward to it this year ;-(

Re: national trails super series
plus my dad used to tell me a bout the weds night super series they had many years ago,i think that would be pretty awesome

Re: national trails super series
Kenny,
I hear what you are saying, but when I heard that NTR was going to cut a time trial on Sunday to help get things done faster on Sunday, I thought to myself.... 'not good" It really didn't bother me... But look at this from the other racers stand point that are not participating in the Super Series. They lost a time trial, but the Super Series guys are still getting 2 because most of us were racing Super Pro as well. So now you have people who are still sitting all day and only getting one time shot. I'm not trying to talk down anyone, or any group of racers, but the fact is alot of these guys change things on thier cars to try and make them better, or most consistant, and one time shot on Sunday is simply not enough. Plus, these same folks watch us screwing around in the staging lanes being paired up on a ladder system, (which I love btw) but it wastes alot of time, and I think things like that attract alot of negative attention from other racers. I do agree that there are other things that could be done to help keep things moving faster. But that is totally out of my hands. |
Re: national trails super series
I think it's important for us to learn and understand all the different factors that lead to the demise of the Super Series, so that if we ever get the chance to put another series together, we can avoid the same pitfalls.
I love racing Super Street, and I would love to see a series put together. Last year I posted a topic on DRR asking what people thought about a traveling series that mirrored the Carolina Coalition Races. There were alot of people who were interested. But as hard as it is to put a schedule together at just one track, making a schedule work well for everyone at 5 or 6 different tracks is 5-6 times harder. Just my .02. |
Re: national trails super series
I understand it's a business and Layton has to take care of the track that way. If it means for him to remove a class to accommodate the majority, then that is what he needs to do, but he's eliminating the added income for cars that are already there. I loved what Joe did with the ladder and setting us up while the other super classes were on the track. All said, besides the weather, I think last year went well (w/ Joe's help) and the car count seemed to increase from the previous year, except Super gas, which seemed to be pretty low. I'm just a little frustrate with the fact that we only have the Divisionals to race .90 heads up racing. I really enjoy racing that way.
P.S. It's Kevin |
Re: national trails super series
Hay... P.S. It's Kevin, do you owe Joe some money .................:D

Re: national trails super series
Super gas has always been the weak class , as far as car count at NTR super series races.
Do away with super gas at these races, if they want to go 90 style racing, run S/ST OR SUPER COMP. These two always get the car counts. Mitch & Zee 366P S/ST S/G |
Re: national trails super series
Sorry one more thing....
NIRO JOE , did a very nice job with this series. THANK YOU JOE... Mitch & zee 366P S/ST S/G |

Re: national trails super series
Maybe i need to talk my boss (Buckeye SS/Stock series) into letting me have a Super Street series come in with the SS/Stock races. I do know the S/ST cars carried there load all year for sure.
Here is our SS/Stock dates: May 1 Kil Kare May 22 National Trails June 5 Kil Kare July 17 Pacemakers August 21 National Trails October 2 Quaker City |

Re: national trails super series
Bill,I rellay dont think any of the .90 cars had any thing to do with getting out late, how many sat. did we complete everything by 6:00? The problem is on sun they have 5-6 jrs races,High school, steet, pro, super pro, pro-bike,super-pro bike, jr bikes, trucks and how many other classes. I dont know about you but one time trail on sun. after a full day of racing on sat. should be enough for anybody that knows there car.Maybe having a s/sst and s/c would be better Im fine going 10.90@166

Re: national trails super series
Thanks Pat, I couldn't have said it any better.
I'd put that series on my schedule Joe. It's been a while since I've been @ Kil Kare. Keep us in the loop. Hey Bob, you'd join us in Xenia for some Super Street racing, right? |

Hey Mitch, you have a PM. |
Re: national trails super series
Pat nothing against you (and you know i owned two topless cars), but my main rule would be all cars must have working doors and a roof in S/ST series i do.

Re: national trails super series
Come on Joe let him in that will be kind of fun.

Re: national trails super series
Please don't ever use Pat and topless in the same sentence again!
|
Re: national trails super series
Joe, trails allready does not not follow NHRA rules weight and nitrous for a few and if you do away with S/G how will the guys that cant run 8.90 compete, besides what does not having a top have to racing any way? I think its just another way for people to complain like Chaserfann! I kind of like being topless no matter what he thinks?

Re: national trails super series
I think Pat and Dimond should be allowed in....just for the comic relief.....so what if they can't afford a roof....a lot of us can't afford a roof...
