Both are now former champs...if you didn't know:D ..no need to enter yet:)

Re: Arizona Nationals

Entry lists are shrinking rapidly, going to be a Denver sized field if the 'bleeding' doesn't stop soon. Good for competitors I suppose and I've been to the track several times and recognize it's not a upper tier facility but could be a harbinger for future quota reductions. Just an observation...

I guess if Chandler rolls over a day or 2 and you are heading to Tucson for the points meet it doesn't matter.

Wondering how many rigs are out in the sand lot holding area today?
I'm surprised they make the Pros park their semis offsite along with the "unwashed" Sportsman ranks!

Re: Arizona Nationals

I agree with Raul, as I noticed last week there was 59 Stockers, but only 52 once the entry period expired. I wish you high end stockers (and all of you really), all of the best for running in what may be 40something temperatures? I'm more so looking forward to Tucson the week after when this cold front leaves....

They will be lucky if 52 stockers show up with that weather forecast.

The travel to the race for some will probably have some adventure. Traveling through Kingman Az on a good day has your attention. They are calling for 2-4 inches of snow in the area Thursday.

How true, how true Floyd, and I just saw that Super Stock is 14 short of their 60 car quota as well. Friday's actual qualifying for all of the sportsman classes will be interesting. Will you be in Tucson next week? If so I'll have to stop by and say hi. Hopefully the pit area I get won't be too far away....

NHRA knows how to lower the car count - just make the race so un-attractive that no one shows up - stock count is 52 :)

From the looks of the weather report rain all day today and tomorrow. Going to be a lot of time chillin in the trailers and motor homes.

At one time Stock and Super Stock were both full or close to it. Then the weather forecasts and the numbers dropped.

Right now it looks like rain today and Friday, clear Saturday and Sunday.

I-40 is closed according to the weather report from Kingman to near Flagstaff.

We have 3" of snow at my house in Vegas, can only imagine what Kingman is like. I15 was closed last week when we had snow as well.

Brother-in-law lives in Kingman, about 5 miles off I-40. He’s got two feet at his house. Bet all the snowbirds at Lake Havasu are “what the hey”?

Re: Arizona Nationals

For those living in "snow country", this is a non-event.

Flagstaff got 24 inches so far today. Previous record was 10 inches.
Snow level is 3,000 ft elevation. We live at 2,000 near Wickenburg.

If coming to Phoenix, all roads are closed north. No problem on I-10.

My opinion, based on forecasts I have seen, racing will be OK starting Saturday. Lots of sunshine from Saturday on.

At 10 PM . Flagstaff got 31 inches and still snowing......wow

I live 15 miles east of the track and we got 2" of rain in the last 24 hours. It is still raining at my house. I feel sorry for anyone parked in the bowl, it may fill with rain water.

I'm not there, but a good friend of mine is a truck driver in the area and former racer. He texted me a photo 30 minutes ago and the windshield wipers were active.

Kind of ironic that the first annual "Magic Dry Nationals" sets a record for rainfall??:):)

Thanks for the updates guys. Kind of a rough start to the season. I say that as I sit here near Tacoma, Wa. and watch snow flurries out my window.

Jeff, hope it was recovered. Too bad stuff like that ever happens. Nice society we live in.

I'm not at the track now but NHRA sent out a text notice that they were drying the track about a half hour ago. I suspect it has rained there since, but I don't have confirmation of that.

GTS340 02-22-2019 12:50 PM

Re: Arizona Nationals

Latest report I was told that some of the pit area is a foot under water

GTS340 02-22-2019 01:05 PM

Re: Arizona Nationals

They are drying the track. Desert ground doesn't absorb the rain very well. The track might have some seeping water for a while specially with the cold temp. Warm up time if any for race cars will probably be on jacks. Lots of big puddles.
