As far as I remember, only the 76 Chevettes had the 200. The later ones did have the 180

Re: Under the index for under a grand!

Pop and I had a good day at the recycling center(junkyard) and brought home a few parts to "prop up" the rear suspension. I had my eye on a Moby Carlo SS to grab the springs and sway bar but call it bad or good luck, sombody else decided that they wanted the rear and took the lower arms and swaybar. On a lighter note, they left the springs on the ground and the car had a decent set of Delco air shocks just hanging there. So I got the springs that I wanted and I'm sure I'll get 1 good air shock for the right rear for a cost of zip.
I also got the cam in and degreed where I want to start with it. This afternoon I'll be putting on the heads and I'll start "fitting" rocker arms.
I'd like to have this thing running around by the weekend.

Re: Under the index for under a grand!

At 8:30 this morning it started and ran. At 9:30 it was at "The Beav". At 10:45 it made it's first pass down a racetrack.
Did it run the index? Yes and no.
Is it a good car? Yes and no.
And the biggest question, is it under the budget? I don't know, I've got to add up the receipts.
Tomorrow, I'll give a "blow-by-blow" of the engine and installation!
