Re: 2014 Hemi Reunion
Hey Dan
I'm hauling my Dart down from here in Canada for this,& considering the extensive mileage I have to travel to attend this event, I'm really hoping the car attendance will be worth the trip. I agree with you, there sure hasn't been much publicity for this event, but if you remember the events Fred Engelhart had, there wasn't much for publicity there either, & look at the results those had. They were phenominal. The people who showed with their cars were hard core enthusiasts of this sport, & the car counts were great. There will probably never be another event that will equal the one in Salem, Ohio in 08, but I'm still looking forward to this event. The only way it will be successfull is if there is participation. If there is not, it may just pave the road to future events & will shy away the promoters, so I'm urging everyone to load their cars up for this & make the trip. liteweight |
Re: 2014 Hemi Reunion
I agree Daryl. There wasn't much publicity for the "Fred" events, but somebody contacted you, and invited you to bring your car, or at least let you know when they wanted you, and where they wanted you. I plan to go for sure, but I am pretty simple, just tell me where you want me, and when you want me, and I'll try and make it happen to the best of my ability. Are we supposed to send in an entry fee, or what? That is just the type of stuff I want to know.
If you need a place to stop off Daryl, I'm only about 45 miles north of Tri State. If you need road help, or need to do maintence on something, give me a holler, I have a decent size shop, and would be glad to help with your long haul. Thanks, Dan |
Re: 2014 Hemi Reunion
I just filled out the entrance form on his website & sent it in a couple weeks ago. The original SS cars will be under the "big tent" as I understand it.
Thankyou for the generous offer, I appreciate it bud. Hopefully, I won't need to take you up on it, but I just may be looking for a place to spend a few hours Friday morning as I'm planning on being in Hamilton Thursday evening liteweight |
Re: 2014 Hemi Reunion
I ran my bracket Duster at many of the Chrysler Classic races during the Jeff days and the Charlie days, most recently in May at the last Mopower event. Jeff sold the series to Charlie around 2006, and they got into a fued over little stuff over the years. Dwindling car counts, lack of sponsors, and bad weather finally killed it after Columbus. I had a lot of fun going to these Mopar-only races over the years and met some great racers and people such as Bob George, Frito, Don Bales, and the killer bracket racers that usually rule at NTR.
This race that Jeff is having at Tri-State did not pull in a lot of bracket cars last year, mainly because of the 100 degree heat. This year August has been very moderate, if this holds out they should get more cars, and with the Hemi cars there it should be a good show. Now, Bob, I know you're not happy with the scheduling of this race, your memorial race, the Mopar Nats, etc. back-to-back in August. I agree with you completely. Let's ask these promoters to try to work together to spread these events out better. |

Re: 2014 Hemi Reunion
Just talked to Jim Kramer and he said attendence was very lite.We have seen a 20% down size to the number of race cars at most events.Even the Mopar Nationals race portion car count was down.
Does anyone know how many true Hemi cars were present and any details on the race portion of the event? |
