This is Charlies second car,the SS/BA car that he won the Super Stock Nationals with at York US 30 in 69.Looking at the date of the pic Oct. 69,this was probably one of the last few races this car ran in SS. Winter of 69-70 he converted it with extensive mods to compete in Modified Production including a new paint scheme & colors including flaring the rear wheel wells. If these are the doors that are on my car, then Charlie would have had to sell these,or they were thieved before this transformation took place. In talking with Charlie Licata (crew member) he never mentioned anything about the doors being removed. And really, it doesn't make sense to remove them to put heavier,as production doors back onto Charlies car again. I'm not saying it's not possible, just highly unlikely. Mark J. Can you post a pic. of Charlies car when it was converted for 1970 in color please??.If you can't, then email me & I'll put it up if you wouldn't mind. Thanx Liteweight Daryl |

Daryl,
Did you or Mark get in .touch with Tim Wing? He told me he had no record of the VIN of Wild Fire. I hope he had some information concerning where the car went after they sold it. JIm S |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Hi Jim
I spoke with Tim Wing several times regarding the Wild Fire Dart. Very interesting talking to someone who owned one of these things new, & actually picked it up himself. He gave me alot of great info, but unfortunately now I am convinced this also is not my car. And all it took was a closer inspection of a pic of the engine compartment. There was a hood pin mounted in the center rear of the hood on Wild Fire. There is no evidence of that on my car or the repair of it. I then confirmed it with Tim Hennessey, the fellow who restored my car in the mid 80's. Oh, the Wild Fire car was sold to a fellow who owned Toledo Scales in 70 or 71. Sorry, no name. Jim, thankyou for taking the time to help me out. Now I at least know it's not the Wild Fire car.Back to square one AGAIN!!!! Liteweight Daryl |

Al's Toy,,,,,,,
An original. Owned by,,,, Al Adamic,,,SS/BA Based out of Wickcliffe, Ohio Ran 10.30's @ 135 mph. Northeastern Ohio, just outside of Cleveland. Post #651 The blue Cuda SS/BA is Tom Myl's out of Pennslyannia an Arlon Vanke prepped car. And the green Cuda looks like John Hagen's; SS/B ,, 'Performance Engineering' And,,,, 'Suppa Cuda' I think that was the original Mule car....that Arlon Vanke got. And the purple Cuda, wasn't that Ferris Motors out of Savannah, Illinois car at one time. And the 'Deb's Automotive Dart' was owned by Joseph Petrelle (not Patel) |
Re: Original hemi dart information
M68,
Those photo's of Charlie Castaldo's car are popping up all over. For the 'hemi hunters' Charlie's first car (the SS/B 4-speed) was terminated at Englishtown in late-April 1969, at a NED1 points meet. For lettering purposes to distinguish the car, the first car had 'Dodge' lettered on the 'C' pillar panel. The first car had Charlie Castaldo in block staggered lettering on the door panel. The second car had Chargin Charlie Castaldo in script lettering on the door panel. Lettering by Dino,,,,,,,and done in Charlies garage in Scarsdale, NY. |
Re: Original hemi dart information
