Look at picture #2 and #3 and you will see that there is oem flooring in this car.
Darren, in the photo that Zac posted of the B&B car that the floorpans appeared the same as this car, just as the photos of this car looks the same as the photo of the B&B car. Probe was built in 94? It has the stock floors(with box tubing welded into it) and firewall etc etc. It was built before they let you use a flat piece of sheet metal stuffed back under the dash and call it the new firewall location. I bet the driveshaft in my probes at least 18 inches longer than a cavalier, cobalt or sunfire. It has stock a arms modified like the rules allowed.

My Opinion -
This thread, is in no way meant to take away anything from the craftsmanship and / or quality of these new cars or their builders, because these cars ARE AWESOME!! But what it does is bring light again, to the fact that NHRA has allowed some, to totally screw-up the Super Stock class and it's rules, because they didn't enforce what was already in place. Besides Mike Lyons comments here about his Probe... I'd like to see pictures and hear comments from somebody who has one of the Original Style FWD Conversion SS/GT cars like FJ Smith used to build, chime in also... Tell us / show us how they compare to this latest acceptable version of a FWD - SS/GT car. And then, if somebody can... Explain to all of us, What actually happened @ the O.E.M. Factory Level (in Construction Methods or Designs) that "May Have" required this loosening of the rules to construct a New / Current GT car? |

I've said it before here but in my opinion all these front wheel drive v8 cars belong in comp. If you couldn't buy it from the factory it shouldn't be in Super/Stock.

At the very least, the traditional rear wheel drive cars shoud not be grouped in with these when it comes to getting a horsepower hit.
Several of us got the sportsman committee to vote unanimously ( one person wasn't available for the vote) on such a rule a couple years back, but Glendoria shut the door on it.Quite often these cars get a combo hit, and the rear wheel drive , bigger, slower cars take the same hit. Its pretty well agreed apon, these little hot rods are somewhere betwen .07 and a tenth quicker than their big brothers. |

These new FWD conversions in S/S are more radical than "Grumpys" ProStock Vega built in 1972.
