On a side note I talked to another guy running a GF-2000 who mentioned issues with Gardner Springs popping off. I believe he said it was damaging the sliders as a result. Was a low 9 second small block Mustang weighing approx 2800 lbs. He says it picked up about 2-3 tenths switching from a pro-shifted toploader. |
Re: Clutchless tranny in S/S?
Come on Guys, just find a good solid tenth somewhere else in the car and let's keep banging the gears "with the clutch" like the good ole days. I realize that it's quicker not using the clutch on clutch assisted transmissions, but they always tend to be breaking/wearing something little by little on each and every pass, no matter how many new/better parts are installed or spare transmissions are put in to replace the damaged ones. If everyone drove them the way they should be with the clutch in every gear change, there would be less breakage... right? Maybe the guys that don't want to use their left leg any after the starting line, can just add an "A" on the window? That seems simple enough.

Re: Clutchless tranny in S/S?
thanks for clearing that up gary, i know their is no half second, i was just saying their is a differance. some were saying there was no differance, and possibly slower, was what i was trying to clarify. at our local track we used to have some cordinationally challenged drivers spit their gum out before staging for safety reasons.

They ran very low nines with cars that had super stock springs and shocks for a rear suspension. In 1965 Sox ran a 9.44 at 145mph in an altered wheel base 1965 Ply. with an injected hemi and a 4 speed with the only modification being every other tooth grinded off the syncro's. Try that on skinny tires! JimR |

Re: Clutchless tranny in S/S?
Officials at NHRA said this week they were considering wording revisions on a couple of rules. One being the manual tranmissions wording. If all parties sign off on the change there would be a revision in the wording to more align the rule with the transmissions that are being used now. The revision may or maynot exclude certian types of available transmission. All of this will be decided this next week if at all possible.
