Re: Recommended Engine Oil ?

I DO NOT profess to know it all either and my advice to you is you should do the same, as you might learn something from a dumb bracket racer and since you continue to make this personal, your nor your claims of your kid's accomplishments impress me.

Now who wants to bet that this "very good bracket racer he's won track championships more races than I can count" will NOT be anywhere to be found at the WFC come July 13th?

Re: Recommended Engine Oil ?

Aubrey, I appoligize for disrupting your post No disrespect was intended. As I stated please make conections with someone with a similar combo and see what they're running, I've got a Modified engine and it has no direct correlation to what you're running so my input would be mute. Again sorry for the rant in your thread. Joe

As you should being that you only replied to this thread to attack me/my advice with this your 1st post of 8 which does infact disrespect the op and trivializes his question, while you offer nothing of relevance to it.

It seems somehow his expertese in every aspect of motorsports has somehow flown under the radar of mainstream Stk/SS racing how can this be? Is he only allowed to help the New Jersey racers? That hardly seems fair to the rest of us under developed wanna be racers. Asking for someones advice on what oil to use is and always will be personal preference, find someone who runs a similar combo to you and ask them what they're using and if they're happy with the results. If in fact 1320 has a similar combo and has in fact used Mobil 1 in it to his satisfaction then I retract most of my statements.Joe BTW I run Royal Purple cause I like the color.

Re: Recommended Engine Oil ?

Can't 1320... that would put me over normal capacity, and that would slow me down... leaving a glimmer of a chance for the other guy to win the race.

but really...
While yes, I chose Stock ( with Super Stock in the back of my mind ) BECAUSE of the strict rules, and the challenge of making power through methods other than aftermarket heads, etc..... I don't minimize anybody's opinion.
Come on guys... we all are here to go fast.

No apology needed at all, Joe....
lets just have fun
I can't take myself seriously, so nobody else should

Re: Recommended Engine Oil ?

Ed, IF you reread my posts I clearly suggested Aubrey to consult with someone running a similar combo I believe twice, maybe this isn't relevent... we'll let Aubrey decide. What I did not do was post a bunch of info about what I do run, how great it is and how smart I am to be doing it. You sir obviously have me outclassed when it comes to self promotion and answering questions posted with "what I do" it's apparent you have much more experience at it than me so I'll relent....You win due to my inability to push what I do as an answer. Would you prefer a plaque or just a fancy certificate? I believe, and I may be wrong on this that someone actually got you to admit you do not race a Class car your feelings are hurt and you view this as a personal attack. It's not meant as that it's meant to bring FACT to the surface. As my daddy always said"the truth only hurts if it should". Joe

Re: Recommended Engine Oil ?

Oil just slows you down, take the tip from your fellow Alberta racer a few years ago who threw a rod out the bottom of the pan on his Hemi and never even oiled the Mission track. Don't know if they forgot to add any or just wanted less windage.

Now if we could only get Andy Miller (Strange Magic) to chime in on this, we could really "let the good times roll"...LOL

Didn't oil the track ?
GOOD MAN !
Because of you, we don't need diapers
You took one for the team.

MY GAWD.......... It would have taken 9 people to keep me away from the guy who was supposed to have put the oil in the engine !

Joe Gibbs oil is just the latest player in the game the internet crowd is talking up, before it, Brad Penn was the flavor of the day and before it Royal Purple.

All I know is that I've been using Mobil 1 for 26 years without issue despite the changing formulas and EPA mandates and my engines always come apart looking good and my last freshen up was after 500 passes seeing 8000 in the lights every weekend, 36 weekends a season.

Good luck finding a stock/super stock racer that puts half as many passes on his engine before freshening.;)

And as you stated you have used Mobil 1 for 26 years without issue. Did you test any other oil? How would you know if they are good or bad? Ain't no internet crowd testing on my engine dyno or going down the track testing oils.Better look outside the box or your left behind! That's the Mobil 1 box.
