I admit I don't understand the how, why or the politics of how certain car combos get factored. With NHRA weight to horse power ratios used to make it possible for various car models, makes, and engine choices to "even the playing field" or to be able to at least run under an index some what. Why are some makes so softly factored that they can bomb the index by a second or more right out of the box. And then you have some combinations as mentioned earlier in this thread that couldn't run the index with a 75 mph tail wind? Why doesn't NHRA remove some of the HP ratings to allow some of these combos to at least run the index?

I would guess it goes back to the car manufacturers.They used to ,and still do
rate their engines based on:
Insurance rates -low
pissing contests with other manufacturers-high
sales-bread and butter cars rated higher than competition

I don't know how out of whack the HP factors were years ago but a blind,deaf mute knows these new cars,even with the hits they've taken are still well underfactored.

Was that the first crank that you had broken ? If it was Im sorry I predicted your future. Id have never believed a stocker motor would break one to be honest. It must leave pretty hard, but there are times when not enough power is as bad as too much. Whats the future, continue to run it with an after market crank or what ? I tried 170s with the same result too, but never broke an 8 3/4 rear
