Mike, that was then, this is now.NMCA (and other racing orgs.) don't need, and I'll bet with their own sponsorships, want anything to do with NHRA.
NHRA's only bargaining chip is the contracts they have with all the tracks around the country. If they lose the tracks they are dead meat.

Exactly. P/S on down is just space filler between nitro classes. I am not a huge fan of nitro, but the fact remains that the majority of fans are there to see nitro.

I know, Ed. I was using them as a previous example. NHRA could use anything as a time-killer. Jets, wheelstanders, heads-up door cars, etc etc etc.

But they still cannot regularly run National Events without Sportsman Racers. These guys are joined at the hip with Sportsman Racers, whether they like it or not.

The only way to improve our position is if NHRA loses it's grip on their sanctioned tracks. Those contracts kepps other venues that compete with NHRA at bay.Notice that Christianson is now affiliated with NHRA?He was a threat to them.to lessen the threat they
merged their resource with his popularity. In short,if you want to race at an NHRA affiliated track, and you are a threat to NHRA,you pay up or go somewhere else. That's their strenght
period.
