Hey Don - Which Liberty 5-speed trans are you running? Any idea what that trans weighs alone?

They will get you the trans ratios you need for your combo.

"Man. trans for Stock"
...4 speed only

You can run a 5 speed manual in stock if the vehicle came from the factory with a 5 or 6 speed manual. It just has to be clutch assisted, not clutchless in design.

Thanks Mike,
I don`t know why, but I assumed Tony was running 1st gen Camaro.

Sorry Mike, I was just clarifying for Don Anderson's example - I wasn't thinking about Tony's original post question. Don runs an 80's Fox body that is eligible for a 5-speed where you're completely accurate that Tony (presumably in a '67-69 Chevy) can only run a 4-speed.

Hope that wasn't too confusing!

Mike,
Aluminum case & tail housing goes about 100 lbs.
Magnesium case & tail housing are 8 lbs. lighter.

I had Paul @ Liberty Gears help me upgrade an old Doug-Nash 4+1 back in 2008 to Liberty`s face plate system legal for my 1985 M/S NHRA Stock Mustang and up-grade the shift shaft seals in the case. I know for Super Stock racer Terry Johnson who went to Liberty`s 5-speed and picked up .2 in his car and made it more fun to drive again.

You're right, the 5-speed Liberty Equalizer was a pretty substantial gain for the small motors vs. a traditional Jerico 4-speed. I just weighed our G-Force 4-speed with aluminum case and it was like 97lbs with shifter and everything. Similar.

They are still doing business but didn't seem too interested in drag racing trans. business at last years PRI show. Will check this year to see if anything has changed, at least hope in so far as to provide replacement parts. Tony Tosto
