Hoping might get away with a built 10 bolt to be a little lighter
Thanks for all the input

I don't think an 8-5/8" 10 bolt would like the 4 speed, and I doubt there's enough advantage to be found to make it worth the hassle.

Methinks that if you're "hoping might get away with" anything, then maybe you shouldn't be building a Corvette!

Me was mainly wanting input if a 10 bolt would handle it because if it would I thought there might be advantage to it being a little lighter

Thanks for the info

Re: 1961 corvette stocker info

I don't think the later 8.5 is much lighter, if at all.
More light weight goodies are available for the 12 bolt.
By the time you piece together an 8.5 at the correct width, you won't save much.
Just buy a complete Moser deal and bolt it in.
I'm not the type to just throw money at these cars, but in this case, it makes the most sense.

No matter how low of a class stocker I was building, with a stick,I would not use a rear that pro gears aren't available for.
Also 35 spline and 5/8 wheel studs do it once and be done.
