No, it's called "I can't read the numbers". Travis is right, it's 14.458. Sorry 'bout that! Jim

Ed, this is another reason why I'm looking forward to San Antonio and the IHRA, because at least there you'll be .3 quicker against your index, your wallet will have more in it, due to the lower entry fees for national/divisional events, and you'll get two races in one weekend (March-April Pro-Am)! Furthermore, you'll be able to race Memorial Day Weekend for $5,000 plus contingencies for an entry fee that's $105 dollars less! Reading another thread here about the aluminum cylinder heads being approved now for Stock/Super Stock, makes me wonder if that rule change will allow me to use the OEM ('87 & newer) aluminum cylinder heads that 173c.i. V6's came with on my Cavalier? For some reason, I doubt it! :(

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ED, and see you next year??? :)

Nope Gary the heads do not interchange. The aluminum head is very different and uses a different intake and injection system. I ran those 2.8's in FWD in the Caddy for 20 years. Jim

Plus IHRA just give the OK to electric cars. I hope GE,Baldor and Dayton sent in the right specs.

Yeah, I got horsepower taken off. Now I can go and take some weight out of the ballast box.
Seems like only yesterday, when I decided to, no, wait, it was in 2004 that I decided to take out all the extra weight I had in the wagon. Stripped it down to the bare minimum. Went to the inaugural Cajun Sportsnationals. Got there and was informed that I got horsepower from the week before due to new record being set. Had to put weight back in. No fun, this sucks.

But now I feel better, think I'll just leave the weight in since I will probably will need it to move around with my weight break, since I cannot move to any other class like others can do.

Maybe I'll just get to minimum weight, put some nitrous and a four barrel on it, get some head work and rollers rockers and go hunt down Bob Shaw's Caddy.

new stock legal light weight seats would help you get to the minimum too.

Careful Ron, the Koopmans and the Class of 65 Car could be lurking....so you write the request to get hp off? I wish the U/SA revival of a few years ago would be "resurrected". Think it's a neat class!

Re: 2012 Horsepower Adjustments

Chris1529, do they have the new light weight bench seats, don't like bucket seats as you can't put stuff next to you and you end up reaching down with your harness restricting you. Hey, it's a wagon, you gotta have some amenities.

jmcarter,
No I did not write anything to NHRA tech. I wrote once long time ago when the Buick of Lloyd MacKay set the record in R/SA, T/SA and U/SA. In the letter I had graphs, commentary, and grids comparing my combo to the Buicks, the '65 Dodges and Bob Dennis Olds Cutlass. The Dodges had 100 lbs more weight to carry as they had more cfm with their Stromberg vs my B & B. Then they changed where all of us were at the same weight for the top/bottom of the class breakdown, but they still had a cfm advantage.
The Buicks were self exclamatory with their advantages. And Bob Dennis car was 600 lbs lighter with a four barrel and questionable serial numbers. It was all on paper to decipher that there were indeed major differences, but nothing was done about it and I just continued running Bob for class.
So as you can see there is no reason for me to write NHRA about anything technically.
And now with the pre factored HP ratings from Ford with their Mustangs, now you really fast cars get an idea of what nonsense that I have been putting up with for years.
With HP taken off for me finally, only a couple of decades later, I can rejoice now that it really doesn't matter.
As far as the record being set and getting HP at Belle Rose, the nice thing was that Dick Moreland called prior to setting the record with Clayton Wright and informed me of what they were planning. They wanted to know if I objected, and if I did they were not going to go for it. My response was that it is a performance category and that they should go for it.

It really would be cool to get all the U/SA's together again, it was a blast. We did have four U/SA's at CFR in Orlando for a SSSSA race last year.

U/SA I need 100 HP taken off
