Re: Original hemi dart information

I fiqure now is a good of time as any to dispell the misinformation of many years about the acid dipping of tin that were installed on the LO & BO cars. The parts I speak of consist of the front bumper & doors. They were STAMPED from thinner guage tin,NOT, acid dipped.Reason for that statement is I have had parts acid dipped, & when they come back, it is very evident . All the edges come to a near point because the acid is eating away at them.
I have looked at ALOT of original doors & bumpers over time & all the original parts are very easy to pick out. They all have crisp square edges, everywhere.
Just a little triva for ya's to help set the record staight
(I hope)

Thanks for the continuing education Daryl! I did not know that the parts were simply stamped from lighter material.

Daryl,

Starting to feel some confidence in this. Bodywork can be just like a fingerprint.
It all SEEMS to be in the correct place.
That quarter panel hit / repair is VERY unusual and specific.

Those little worm like bondo boogers are most likely leftover holes from sheetmetal screws used to slide hammer or pull the dent crease out. Very typical way of doing things back in the 80s. With that being said, I too feel that you've discovered some new concrete evidence.

Re: Original hemi dart information

If the photographer or author incorrectly labeled the silver Dart as running SS/B, possibly the "Manhatten Speed Parts" name was wrong also, since Manhatten Speed Shop claims it never ran a Hemi Dart. If it was a hectic day, and there was no lettering on the car, that might happen. That souvenier program, as Mark said, or some list of the Darts that competed that day might help clear things up.

Has the DEBS (Joe Patel) Dart ever surfaced?

I "THINK" I remember someone saying it went to the west coast.
Too many pages here to remember.
