The 273 2 barr. had the really small rear. My friends 273/235 HP 'Cuda had the 8 1/4 rear. We had gotten a 3.91 gear for the 8 3/4 rear to put in it but found out the pumpkin was the same that came in the larger cars with 318's and 361's after we had it all apart. It didnt fit. Had to go back to the dealer and get a new gear to finish sitting it up. The parts guy called it a 8 1/4. The one I think you talk about is the one with a tin back plate like a 10 or 12 bolt chev.????? I think. I remember that type of rear in another friends 273/2 barr Cuda of the same year. Of course that was a very long time ago and before the Army and life messed with my brain.....LOL.

The '63-'65 A bodies came with the 7 1/4 rear end no matter what engine or trans although it is thought some of the late '65 235hp cars may have been built with the 8 3/4 that was available for 1966.
