Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
The Mustang BIW kit should sell for around $10,000.00. Retail is $11,995.00 and jobber is $10,895.00.

Call around if you are interested in purchasing it you will be surprised what you can get one for. I'm very pleased with the pricing and customer service that I received.

Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
Okay... I've got a question here. I didn't realize that these could still be ordered. So my question/concern is with the manual version. I see the competition kits offer cross members for a Liberty manual. If I was to build one it would have to be a manual because I don't know how to drive an automatic, really. I thought I read somewhere earlier this year that Ford was not going to build turn key manuals and if that is the case does this mean that I couldn't build a competition kit with a manual????

Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
Also does anyone know what class these two combo's will fit into and what their hp ratings will be?
|
Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
Ok... One more question. Does anybody know what the difference is between the '13's and the '10-'12's. I just thinking that with the change of the bumper covers and hood you could have a '10-'13? Yes or No??? This would give you so many more available combo's.

Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
Body wise:
Different front and rear bumper, hood, tail lights, headlights. The 13 has different seats and steering wheel. I believe that the seats are acceptable for Stock in the NHRA back to 08 retrofit The rest of the body panels have been the same since 2010. The Roof line and glass has been the same since 2005 |
Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
I had previously posted what issue this was in but 5.0 has now put the article up on their website. The Cobra Jet program is great even for the street car guys because we were able to test and prove, or disprove, what works and what doesn't.

Ford sure has all their poop in one bag! It's great to see. GM and Chrysler should take a lesson for sure. Jim

Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
The 2013 hoods initially were planned to have all the bracing removed but we discovered some "oil-canning" during high speed testing that could result in the hood gently touching either the SC pulley or the top of the intake/throttle body. It was minor enough that it took numerous runs for us to notice the slight rubbing and high speed video to verify.
We went back to the Mustang GT hood with only a small amount of the bracing trimmed for better clearance to the throttle body on the 5.0L NA engine. The weight difference is 6-7lbs. I cannot stress enough the importance of our testing to catch issues like this. We don't just build a race car, we engineer a Cobra Jet. |
Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
Good eye Kdanner.
Is it August yet???? Our car show that my Mustang car club is putting on is early August, suppose to pick up the BIW in mid-August then it's US Nationals time. Bravo to all of the FRPP Team for executing a complex project. It's nice to see everyone's hard work come to fruition. |
Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
O/T Question: Does anyone know if the Cobra Jet Shootout is still on at Milan in August? I have not seen much about it, no logo or mention of it on the NMCA flyer I got. Thanks!

Re: Ford Racing hard at work...
The Milan NMCA Cobra Jet Showdown is going to happen! I am not sure why NMCA left it off. Oversight I guess.
We are 100% on getting the 2013's out so I haven't had the opportunity to really dig into the NMCA event but it will happen. I've spoken to NMCA and the sponsors. Everyone is on board and this is a great warmup for Indy and the new Factory Showdown class! Will we see a 7-second pass in one of the SS Cobra Jet's? Will any brand X cars show up for a match race? |

http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...d/IMGL9789.jpg http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...uild/award.jpg In its first weekend in competition, the new 2013 Cobra Jet showed its capability right off the trailer. At the Woodburn, Oregon NHRA Division 6 race, new Cobra Jet owner Gary Coe went consistent 9.60’s in qualifying before losing first round. While he might have been a first round casualty, Coe won the Best Engineered Vehicle award for the Woodburn event. |
