Hoosiers I easily get 100+ runs out of a set. I've spoken to a couple MT reps and they say that's normal and were unwilling to do anything for me on a new set.

Try what you have on hand first imo.

If you want a DOT bias tire(slick) , I would look at the Hoosier Quick Time Pros. I've used them for index classes as well as others with success requiring DOT tires.

This is the kind of conversation I was hoping to get. 100% I'm going to try what I have on hand as a baseline.

I guess kind of where I'm at, is a situation where I really don't know the condition of these used tires I've got, so I don't know if they'll be good representations of a new set. At the same time, do I get a third set of wheels and take them all to the track and do a/b/c comparison runs, or do I say "I know these 3754s are way too tricky, let's unmount them and put the 3060R on".

Unfortunately, I don't have a tire machine, so any changes costs more money. Although I guess in the big picture, all R&D costs some amount of money.

On that same note, I'm having to weigh out section width versus wheel backspace. I have about an inch and a quarter from the leaf spring to the sidewall right now at 5.5 inches of backspace, so either the Hoosier or the 3060 I'm going to lose a half inch of that clearance.

If I go to the Hoosier 30x10.5, I definitely have to go to a 4.5 backspace. With my weight I don't think I really need a 30x10.5 tire, it would definitely be a little more forgiving. But for stuff where I don't need that dot stamped tire, I'm trying to decide which way I want to go - short and wide, or tall and skinny.

We routine run low to mid 1.3s with our stockers without any issues.

I lot of the higher HP Stockers are way faster than that on the above
tires.

We have found very little difference in ET between Goodyears
and Hoosiers the last several years.

Years ago, the Goodyears tended to not recover from wheel spin
very well. However, Goodyear seems to have gotten a handle on
that since that time.

If you are going to run Super Street, keep in mind that you will be first out in the morning. I would highly suggest running a bias-ply slick as it will be more forgiving. In Division 2, it is hit-or-miss on what kind of track you are going to get from the NHRA early in the AM (and late in the rounds). A lot of Stockers are running a bunch of weight to compensate for this.

He’s already running a bunch of weight :D with a car and a combo that will not be competitive in S/ST.

Would you agree that all of us had to start somewhere? It is a fact of life that sometimes we have to make good with what we have. That doesn't always work out. But, I would suggest that the challenge is half the fun. Most of us are not rock stars on our first outing...

I also wouldn't count anyone out just based on opinions. There are some people out there that will flat out murder you in anything. I will throw Fletcher out there as an example.

This guy ain’t that guy and my advice to him is spot on and the TRUTH! He’d get the same advice from anyone running the class that’s being honest, I will throw Keith Mayers out there as an example.

I would always suggest running a radial tire if your car works. If it doesn't work, make it work.

In your case, I would suggest a 28 x 10.5 bracket radial, either PBR (Mickey) or DBR (Hoosier).

I dig it, just make sure you have enough gear to get to the 1/4 mile

After reading your original post again, the first thing I would do is mount up the 30 x 9 radials you already own and try them. I ran brackets and S/ST for 20 years on those tires (30 x 9 Stocker radials, but not Mickeys) before switching to bracket radials 4-5 years ago.

I agree with Tony!

I run a ProCharged SBC with EFI @ 3100 lbs. We have run S/ST, but not with this combo & the car is primarily a bracket car. We have a glide with a 1.76 1st gear & launch @3400 with around 3 lbs. of boost. The car 60's in the high 1.20s.

We have raced on pretty much all the Hoosier 30x9 radials, C06, C07 & C30 compounds in both standard & lightweight. We also run the M/T Pro Bracket Radial 30x10.5. The M/T is our favorite radial, but the Hoosiers are a very close 2nd.

The Hoosier below in yellow & we have limited runs on them. They seem to work well & provide a very aggressive bite on the starting line.
