We have a guy local that has a new cnc hone machine but he doesn't do stocker motors but he does do lots of dirt track stuff. Just don't want the wrong hone done.

Agree, have done this a few times with production blocks. We used to run them in on the dyno then brush hone afterwards and reassemble with same rings.

Rings make the bore round.

Re: Engine hone question

I use leak down and compression check along with obviously is it smoking? Light weight ring pacs can have a inaccurate reading on leak down..I ultimately make my final decision using compression test. If it has say 200# on all cylinders, I'm not to concerned with leak down numbers..JMO Brian Seaberg 627

Re: Engine hone question

Bubski's like OMG !! some compression testing looking for excessive oil on plugs !! Glad to see there are sum out there who haven't fallen into the snake oil magic hone job that will instantly pick up their car 5 tenths !! But Bubski knows there's always a sucka looking for that magic that doesn't exist !! Bubski thinking most "hone ,ring issues " are from improper cleaning g of cylinder prior to assembly !!
