Probably nothing wrong with OEM belts. I was just thinking someone must have installed aftermarket belts in a slow car without a roll bar & just wanted to see how they did it.

This is definitly racing for cheap. I'm not looking to spend any more money than I have to.

You could just bolt in a 3" lap belt with the original hardware..God knows, there's plenty of them laying around.

Yesi have in a E mail response and saved it just in case. I do mention it when a tech mentions that my current belts are going to be out of date soon. ( In my M/SA car. ).

I had a letter from Division Tech Director that I kept in the glove box of my N/SA.

Re: Seat Belts Install for Slow Stocker

I used to have a set of Y shoulder RCI belts that were mounted to the floor behind me when I was younger. A seasoned racer spelled out to me why it was a bad idea. With my low back bucket seats, if the belts did come into play they would drive me down in the seat and likely compress my spine. Without a cage, if they were tight enough to keep me upright and the car ended up shiny side down, they would keep me from rolling to the side while the roof came down and.... compress my spine. He explained that is why the rule book only allows the shoulder belt to be mounted a short distance (4 or 5 inches I believe) below the drivers shoulders. I run a 3 inch, very expired belt mounted in the factory location, just in case I do end up inverted so I don't have to worry about trying to push a tiny OEM button while hanging.

Just the lap belt or do you have something going to the upper factory mount? Across your chest?

I don't believe a 67 Mustang would have the upper portion of a belt.

Just the lap belt. No shoulder belt in my 67.

The 67 did come with a OEM shoulder harness option so the fastener could be under your headliner, I use the OEM locations on my comet with expired belts, I would highly recommend a shoulder harness..
