Re: Leaf springs & CalTracs separation
Can't stress enough using four wheel scales and video. Always try to go through the full range of what your trying but change one thing at a time.

Re: Leaf springs & CalTracs separation
I had Monroe double adjustable on my Modified car about 14 to 16 months I would have to have them rebuilt the trailer ride was very hard on them. I would just go down to Monroe and they would total rebuild them to good as new. There towards in the last 2 years if the trip was over 800 miles I would install a old set of rears for the ride.

Re: Leaf springs & CalTracs separation
In no particular order:
1. Car’s never been scaled, but it’s nose-heavy… BB E-bodies are “born that way”, unless there’s some significant changes made to the weight distribution which I haven’t explored 2. I know there are better dampers available than the comparatively archaic Ranchos; it may require a DA more tailored to the application to improve times & consistency and I’ve been warned against bothering w/ some of the “shiny but wimpy” options that aren’t up to controlling the extension 3. I’m not sure I’d say the car’s. 60-fts got worse the faster it got… the data I posted doesn’t show how it had been getting chipped away as the car progressed from 11.0s (1.51-1.52) down to the 1.46x +/- range in the 10.5s 4. Also, the car’s fastest pass was a 10.52 at 126.44 w/ a 1.454, followed up by a slightly slower pass with a 1.452, so the car’s best 60s were on the best ETs & MPH passes, too 5. One of a number of changes that have been made and yet to be tested include switching from the shorter 20” (Super Stock” spring length) front segments back to the standard B/E body 22” 6. Am changing from 8” to 10” rims w/ the same 275/60R15 (~ 28” x 9”) radials, too, to help the footprint and -- hopefully -- make the tire a little less sensitive to tire pressure settings I appreciate all the input so far. - Brad |
