Re: Stage Lock
My info about the stage lock came from Trey Capps and Olan Gotcher on Saturday afternoon after having a really bogus run. I do not go around to 10-20 different people to see what they thought about how things work. I went to the source. Afterwards they (NHRA) decided that they cannot rely on the stage lock system to function properly and turned it off for the remainder of this race.

I do not know who Olan is but I assume he is the track manager or track someone. I would not consider either the expert on the timing system. We need the name of someone with the company who manufactures the system being used. Not all the tracks use the same system from what I have been told. Only someone with the manufacturer can give us a true picture of what happens with the program. I am not arguing one way or the other but I would like to know what to expect at all the tracks. I have had those funky runs before also and I just trash them and move on. Only NHRA can mandate to use or not to use the stage lock. Like I said earlier I am not sure it is even available to all the tracks to use depending on their system. I would just like to know somewhat to expect before going to the starting line. Re: Stage Lock
When is the last time you looked at the photo cells with the cover off? I seen them a lot in the last year. . One of the things I do before I run down the track. I am usually there when they check roll out, so I understand what is where. The guy I been talking to is Cooper. He is the one who set up the timing for the Nationals events When is the last time you saw the sensors, and the photocells? If you have not looked, you don't know! There is something else, but I not going to try to explain it here, cause it don't make sense to me. But it has been explained to me several times by Mr Cooper

Re: Stage Lock
I guess I have not thought about what happened to you, Voltdr. But it makes sense, after you explained it. My issue was a different perspective. Bottom line NHRA has made changes to the rules and timing system, and I was not aware, and that things were not what I thought they were. Just saw all those sensors last year with the cover off, and I asked the question. Why so many sensors? Then it was off to the tech director, and then to the division director, and finally talked to Tim White, and I do understand what they are doing, but I don't agree. And they are not going to change there mind.

Re: Stage Lock
I apologise for being rude, bottom line I don't like it, but I can live with it. They make the rules and equipment, and I will do my best

Re: Stage Lock
At least, now I feel I understand what is going on and can determine when I have made a bad run and when the timing says has given me a bad run.
