Re: 2017 All Access
The first 10 races or so was excellent, but as the season went on it for to the point I didn't even watch it anymore. I wouldn't consider it a cash cow either at $99 for the season when you consider that is about same price you can expect to pay for one PPV boxing event. When you consider sportsman racers are probably their only market and the cost of a filming crew, probably not a very high profit margin.

Re: 2017 All Access
I agree with you guys. Coverage has gone to crap! And the top end camera guy can't follow the cars to save his life. Do they hire kids during the sportsman coverage and get the real crew in when the pros come out? Very disappointed. I'll just go back and tell NHRA to hire me, I'll take care of it. 😊

Rob, you have my vote!!!! Like most everyone I'm disappointed with the coverage... First couple of ads said "See every pass, for every class". Well that worked, until the first race that had qualifying on Thursday... No coverage... Then after enough people complaining, we got the audio cast.. We had that before.... I do agree that it's not the most expensive entertainment I have spent money on at $99 a year... I'm not sure about next year... Will wait and see.... |
Re: 2017 All Access
Indy was around the time they started laying everyone off, hence the reduced ND service. I was told that NHRA had a huge deficit to make up because they spent way too much money on the media outlets. For instance, they had budgeted (hoped) that 100k people would subscribe to all access, they got 10k. That's not a successful business model. I think that's why the all access coverage has gotten significantly weaker than it was in the beginning.

Re: 2017 All Access
I paid the $95 and just checked yesterday's archive to watch Stock and Super Stock and only see Top Alcohol on there. That is frustrating because Friday is the best day to watch. Also, kind of disappointed that there has been no mention of the 45th Annual PA Dutch Classic in the last 3 National Dragsters and safe to assume there won't be. Can PC Richard & Son just purchase NHRA already ;)

Re: 2017 All Access
Got my vote Rob! I love watching your stuff! Great view of the launch and scoreboard on every pair.
I think I got spoiled early in the year with how good it really was. There was room for improvement even then (ET/RT display, for example), but I loved it. |
Re: 2017 All Access
It's not like they can't do it - Division #3 has had a YouTube channel for a few years that has been excellent, with the exception of the bandwidth/cellular problems at certain venues which could be fixed with the satellite up-link they're using for the network broadcasts.
I just don't understand why they (NHRA) decided to produce these broadcasts "in-house", if that is in fact what they did. There are a number of production companies, whose business expertise is this type of coverage, that were ready on day #1 to bring us a first-class product. I'd gladly sit through a few minutes of commercials every hour if it meant that I'd get to see more Sportsman coverage. I'm already paying my cable company for 200+ channels I NEVER watch, so a few bucks a month extra for programming I DO like would be awesome! |
Re: 2017 All Access
Well, maybe it is just me and my computer, but ALL Access does not look very good today. Livestream, just does not get it. If they offer the service next year, is this what we can expect?
