Re: Holley 1850 replacement carb
454 is a totally different animal. 396/325 is a small valve/closed chamber/ low lift cam app. Our testing proves the Holley can work. Have not done a back to back at the track yet. Its all in the combination.

I'd say if the Holley out runs the QJet you should have somebody else do your Q Jets

Imp stocker (Will?), have you found the Holley faster? I'm just wondering why you would run a smaller carb, being that the HP is the same with both. |
Re: Holley 1850 replacement carb
Here is the Quick Fuel SSR-585-VS carb that is NHRA approved for SOME (not all) 1.562 throttle plate/1.250 pri. venturi/1.313 sec. venturi applications:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psnbyogogo.jpg Side hung float bowls and NO secondary metering block. Here's the press release straight from Quick Fuel: http://www.quickfueltechnology.com/m...qft-ssr-585-vs It's not listed as an NHRA approved replacement for ALL applications that share these same throttle bore and venturi sizes. And not all the little Holleys are the same for Chevy applications. For example, the small Holley for the '66 327/275 have 1.500 pri. and sec. throttle bores and 1.187 pri./1.250 sec. venturi sizes. |
