They are exempt as per a nhra staff member in Glendora. I could get only an email confirmation, no published rule appears to be available. I have been told that an email confirmation from nhra is good enough for our purposes. More to come.

Does any of the runs by the Shootout cars go towards their qualifying spot in the regular Stock qualifying sheet ?

Yes, and that is the problem. Look at 2014 Indy or last week's Gators. They can come in and bomb the sheets and never suffer the consequences like the regular class Stockers. They should be in their own eliminator. Let them run and gun all they want but they should not be dumping on all the other cars because they are not subject to the same rules as Stock Eliminator.

I thought that was what happened at Indy.

I like the idea of the shootouts a few times a year, but those runs should be totally separate from the regular qualifying runs in Stock.

Or....create a new class and just put the shootout cars in Factory Experimental.
Problem solved.

Thanks Alan. Wonder why they have not put it in writing?

Jeff, you must have something in writing about the rules for these cars. I believe you were the first to post that they were exempt from the ahfs. Please share that information with us. I'm working on a new project and also need to know who gave the FS/X cars the exemption.

Very interesting??

Moving the FS/X cars to their own eliminator at the 4 premier events is the only way to fix this problem. Simply reducing the index and allowing them to still be exempt from the ahfs won't fix a thing. The Stock Eliminator and ahfs rules are very clear.

Seems like a great solution ....
