Re: 350/295 combo
The 350 combination would be better in a 69 or 70 because you can run a three speed auto trans. A good 200 would be at least a tenth faster than a power glide .

Woodroo Jose recommended the 255/350. I got NHRA to reduce the 295 to 290hp writing to them a while back. Woodro felt the 295 at 290 was not worth the 10 HP difference over the 441 Headed 255. The 492 Casting had the same Valves though more Compression. But the 441's out flowed the 492's enough to be a better combination. my 2 cents d |

Re: 350/295 combo
The 295 or 300 horse motors are now 286. Try a set of 186 heads and you will have a decent combination. The compression difference should be about 1 1/2 points. With the new hp off this might be a little better.

Re: 350/295 combo
Everybody is so quick to throw out the name of their favorite shop. But nobody ever asks the most important question. What's your budget & how fast can your wallet keep up?

Re: 350/295 combo
Jeff, I think we all just assumed if the guy is going to run an E or F/SA car ,he has a fairly substantial budget to work with ..He's gonna need it, in just about any division.

Never assume!

Re: 350/295 combo
Well gents i already have a supergas car with a 555, and i also have a reher and morrison 565. With that being said i'm looking to get into stock. I already have parts for a 396/375 from heads block and other parts to complete that combo. I'm not into trying to keep up with the joneses. I simply think the small block combo may be better. And i have some buddies with a few of the heads in the nhra guide, which i can get my hands on. I want to put this together and learn. I'm not trying to set the world on fire or impress just race and have FUN! That's it.

Re: 350/295 combo
Point I was making is there are some pretty fast E and F/SA cars in Div 7.
If you want to survive heads up races with them , you'll need a healthy piece. If you want to guard against that , put a stick in it ...They're practically illegal out here. |
